Strength Upgrades Needed for Every Monster
While R.E.P.O. isn’t primarily a monster hunter game, but instead a survival game where players collect valuables, they can indeed become a set of a few brave Semibots who focus on Strength Upgrades to become the brutal and ruthless killers of the same monsters that want them dead. It’s vital to have Strength Upgrades in R.E.P.O. to grab and smash monsters into the ground or throw them into pits.
REPO: 7 Scariest Monsters, Ranked
REPO contains some truly terrifying monsters that will make even the most hardened of robots tremble in fear, and here’s the scariest of them all.
There are 19 monsters in R.E.P.O., and each of them requires a different level of Strength Upgrades if players want to successfully grab them and throw them to the ground with ease. Strength isn’t just good for acquiring heavier valuables, but for turning R.E.P.O. into a monster-killing adventure.
Updated November 7th, 2025, by Usama Ali: The latest Monster Update for R.E.P.O. introduces 10 brand-new monsters. With enemies like the Loom, Gambit, and Cleanup Crew, players now have even more reasons to invest in Strength Upgrades. This guide has been fully updated to include all 29 monsters currently in R.E.P.O. and the Strength Upgrades you need to take them down.

Elsa
Strength Upgrades Needed: Impossible
Elsa looks like an adorable dog companion but can quickly become terrifying. With 600 health, 5 damage per hit, and being unpickable, she only wants affection. Petting Elsa causes hearts to disappear, but if players or enemies attack her, she turns into a muscular beast capable of tearing through anything nearby. Protecting her from harm is the only way to make sure she stays friendly.
28
Peeper
Strength Upgrades Needed: Impossible
The Peeper is a giant eyeball that will often pop up on ceilings in an attempt to lock eyes with players, slowing them down and dealing damage over time if they do not break line of sight. Considering Peepers are stuck to ceilings, it’s impossible to grab them, so it’s best to leave them until they teleport away after a few seconds, or shoot them with a gun.
27
Tick
Strength Upgrades Needed: Impossible
The Tick is small but deadly if underestimated. It has just 10 health and no Strength required to pick up. Touching or grabbing a Tick causes it to latch on, draining 10 health per second until it’s killed or reaches 100 health. Defeating it releases a healing mist that players can walk into. Usually spawning in groups, Ticks are best left alone unless you’re ready for the risk.
26
Gnome
Strength Upgrades Needed: 0
Gnomes are the weakest of the monsters in R.E.P.O., and their little porcelain pickaxes will deal 10 damage, but they themselves will be easily killed once players pick them up and drop them into the ground, which can be done from as early as the first level since they are very light and require 0 Strength Upgrades.
25
Banger
Strength Upgrades Needed: 0
The Banger is a skull that will light a dynamite fuse in its head the moment it spots a player, and as such, they can be pretty dangerous if players aren’t taking care of them. When they explode, players are going to take damage, and they might as well say goodbye to any nearby valuables. Luckily, the Banger can be picked up and tossed away with no Strength Upgrades to ensure that they are not a major nuisance.
24
Apex Predator
Strength Upgrades Needed: 0 (When the Apex Predator is Knocked Down)
The Apex Predator works a bit differently from other monsters, as the amount of strength doesn’t actually help subdue this monster. The purpose of the Apex Predator is to pester the player and get in their face until they accidentally touch it, to which the Apex Predator will then become a flying monster that chases and bites. Players can pick up the Apex Predator from 0 Strength Upgrades, but they will need to use either a cauldron to knock this duck enemy down, or a Tranquiliser Gun to put it to sleep.
23
Birthday Boy
Strength Upgrades Needed: 4
The Birthday Boy looks completely harmless with his balloons, but popping one turns this party into chaos. With 150 health, and 10 damage per slap, this party boy becomes enraged when provoked. If players leave his balloons untouched, he remains passive. Popping a balloon makes the Birthday Boy chase you down and slap you until you escape or hide. Groups of differently colored Birthday Boys can spawn together in early levels.
22
Headgrab
Strength Upgrades Needed: 4
The Headgrab is a fast, aggressive enemy that feeds off fallen players, and it attacks on sight. Once it steals a player’s head, it becomes faster and more dangerous. The Head Grabber is vulnerable to quick hits from small valuables, which makes it easy to fend off.
21
Spewer
Strength Upgrades Needed: 4
The Spewer stalks the halls of most maps in search of players for it to latch onto, providing them with a new mouth that will randomly open up to spit out acid on other players and valuables. There’s no way to detach the monster until it decides to do so itself, but players can avoid it by picking it up before it latches when they have 4 Strength Upgrades.
20
Upscream
Strength Upgrades Needed: 4
The Upscream is one of the creepiest monsters to look at as it crawls around on all its legs and looks at the players with the creepiest of smirks. Thankfully, this terrifying beast can be killed with just 4 Strength Upgrades, allowing players to pick it up and toss it around as it helplessly flails.
