Helldivers 2 CEO Teases Next Major Update, New 2026 Content

By newsgame

Arrowhead Game Studios CEO Shams Jorjani recently held an impromptu Q&A, shedding some light on what players can expect from Helldivers 2 in future updates. Helldivers 2 was originally released on February 8, 2024, and is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The popular co-op shooter skyrocketed in popularity shortly after its release, bringing players together with Major Orders and community events that helped shape both the story and success of the title.

As a live-service game, Helldivers 2 relies on new content to keep players coming back for more. Knowing this, Arrowhead Game Studios prioritized pushing fresh content, hoping to keep players excited and engaged. While this certainly helped hold the attention of players around the globe, many gamers complained about the title’s optimization. Lingering bugs and an ever-expanding file size began to ruin the experience for some fans, causing them to take their complaints directly to the developers themselves. Game Director Mikael Eriksson commented on Helldivers 2‘s issues, stating that the title was beginning to “break at the seams.” Since then, the developers have prioritized bug fixes and optimization in new updates. In fact, PC players can even install a “slim” version of the game that drastically reduces the amount of space it takes up on one’s hard drive. Since the developers have made great strides toward improving the overall player experience, many fans are wondering what’s next for Helldivers 2 in 2026.

As reported by gamesradar+, Arrowhead Game Studios CEO Shams Jorjani recently held an impromptu Q&A session with players on the game’s official Discord channel. Some gamers were eager to know more about future updates, as the community doesn’t seem to have a clear idea of what to expect from the popular shooter in 2026. While Jorjani didn’t share any specifics, he did tease players by saying, “a lot of Helldivers will die.” The implication is that some dangerous new foes, maps, and conditions could be on the way. When specifically asked about a roadmap for 2026, the CEO expressed that the developers would like to find a way to share a roadmap that focuses on features and quality of life updates without spoiling the game’s upcoming story beats. This makes a lot of sense, as the story of Helldivers 2 is often in flux, with new threats and attacks often being tied to the success or failure of Major Orders.

While gamers may not have a clear picture of what the future looks like for the popular shooter, the developers have commented on things that could show up at some point. For instance, Design Director Niklas Malmborg recently talked about expanding vehicle gameplay in Helldivers 2, potentially bringing in some of the vehicles from the first game that haven’t made it into the sequel yet. There’s no way of knowing what this might look like or when it could arrive, but many players who enjoy using the game’s vehicles were excited to hear that even more could be on the way.

In another interaction on Discord, one fan expressed the desire to see customizable Stratagems in Helldivers 2. The comment caught the attention of CEO Sham Jorjani, who said that he was “100% for more customization.” Small moments like this have given players some idea of what the developers might be working on, though there’s no guarantee these features will ever make it into the game. Even if they do get added to the game, there’s no way of knowing when they could arrive. However, these moments have been enough to keep many players excited as they wait for Arrowhead Game Studios to officially announce the game’s next major update. With so much content to enjoy and even more on the way, many fans are feeling optimistic about the future of Helldivers 2.
