Black Ops 7’s Necrofluid Gauntlet May Be the Most OP Wonder Weapon Ever

By newsgame

Longtime Zombies fans undoubtedly understand that power creep is nothing new, but one map into Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, it already feels like Treyarch has set a new ceiling. Few Wonder Weapons in the mode’s long history have blended raw damage, utility, and mechanical value as effectively as Ashes of the Damned’s newest toy, and none have ever looked quite this stylish while doing it. It may have a few quirks, but once Black Ops 7 players learn how to work around them, it becomes clear that the Necrofluid Gauntlet is one of the most overtly overpowered Wonder Weapons in years.

The Necrofluid Gauntlet Is an S Tier Wonder Weapon

Ashes of the Damned’s Necrofluid Gauntlet is a nasty-looking claw with dark liquid “ammunition” that can be reshaped into high-velocity magnetized spikes. Players can either carve through enemies up close or skewer targets and rip those same spikes back toward the gauntlet, piercing enemies again on the return flight. It performs multiple high-value roles at once, even before you factor in its scaling potential on high rounds.

What actually makes Black Ops 7‘s Necrofluid Gauntlet S-tier is the fact that players can sit at over 350 HP with infinite ammo. Additionally, while it remains unconfirmed, it seems that the returning spikes deal infinite damage. That puts the gauntlet on par with iconic CoD Zombies weapons like the Jet Gun, Thunder Gun, and Apothicon Servant, and that’s before considering their limited ammo pools. In all fairness, it does come with a learning curve.

A Wonder Weapon With a Learning Curve

Though it may come as a con for some, the Necrofluid Gauntlet does have some complexities. It isn’t exactly a casual weapon, and it’ll take some playstyle adjustment to use it optimally, considering the best use is to actually shoot the floor and thin hordes with the spikes’ return. Once that muscle memory kicks in, however, it’s difficult not to see that as part of the gauntlet’s cool factor, especially when those same spikes are providing infinite damage, overheal, and somehow, even more.

Ashes of the Damned’s Wonder Weapon Utility Is Wildly Underrated

Though it isn’t spelled out, the Necrofluid Gauntlet can pull items and Power-Ups toward the player. That may seem minor, but being able to drag a Max Ammo or Insta-Kill through a train without exposing yourself is a luxury few Call of Duty‘s Wonder Weapons have ever offered. Combined with overhealing, the gauntlet effectively eliminates many of the risks that usually balance Zombies’ strongest tools.

Still, even with all this power, some players will argue that weapons like the Thunder Gun or Apothicon Servant feel more efficient moment-to-moment. From a simplicity standpoint, that can be absolutely true; those weapons were point-and-boom solutions that anyone could use. The difference here is both a higher floor and ceiling, as while the Necrofluid Gauntlet may take some getting used to, its potential for infinite utility and survivability gives it a peak that older weapons simply couldn’t reach.

The Gauntlet’s Only Real Weakness: Unlocking It

the power of the necrofluid gauntlet

If there’s any saving grace for Black Ops 7‘s Zombies’ balance, it’s that acquiring the Gauntlet is honestly kind of a painful process. Its questline contains multiple moving parts, several timed sections, and a few steps that are more finicky than almost anything the mode has asked of players before. The stun grenade step in BO7‘s Zombies involving Klaus, in particular, has been driving players up the wall, as nailing the correct throw angle is far more frustrating than it should be.

This difficulty isn’t inherently a bad thing, though, as, given how powerful this Wonder Weapon is, it stands to reason that the unlocking process should be commensurate with its power. The only actual pain point is that the final step culminates in a fight inside a tight ring of fire that demands perfect execution with a gun you may be trying for the very first time. Both enemy aggression and positional pressure intensify, and failure could lead to the collapse of the entire match.

Ultimately, Black Ops 7‘s Necrofluid Gauntlet is one of the few instances where the weapon’s power feels earned, though. Especially considering the gauntlet feels like an intentional attempt to redefine what a late-round Wonder Weapon can be, even if its power level may require tuning down the line. It simply does more than almost anything else, and because of that (and a serious cool factor), it’s a contender for the best Zombies weapon ever. With Ashes of the Damned out, it’d be interesting to see some more Zombies Wonder Vehicles thrown into the discussion, too.
