Silksong Player Comes Up With Ridiculous New Boss Challenge

By newsgame

One gamer is trying to beat every boss in Hollow Knight: Silksong by only using Hornet’s taunt. While Hollow Knight: Silksong is already a hard game, this new challenge takes the difficulty level to a whole new level.

Following years of anticipation, Silksong has largely lived up to the hype for many fans since its release in September. Team Cherry’s latest game has already sold over 7 million copies, with millions more gamers playing on Xbox Game Pass. In addition, the game was nominated for many awards, including Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2025. While it lost to Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the game has doubtlessly been one of the most popular titles of the year. With so many people playing Hornet’s new adventure through the Kingdom of Pharloom, some unusual challenges have been shared online.

Hollow Knight: Silksong Passes Incredible Sales Milestone Only 3 Months After Release

Team Cherry reveals that Hollow Knight: Silksong has passed an impressive sales milestone shortly after the Metroidvania was released.

Hollow Knight: Silksong Player is Beating Every Boss By Only Taunting

One of these bizarre player-created challenges was made by the YouTuber Bloblumord The 3rd. As their recent videos evidence, they are attempting a run of the game called “Garama%” in which they defeat bosses by only using the Challenge ability. While not noted in the game’s Controller options, players can push in the right thumbstick (V on keyboard) to perform a taunt-like maneuver. While it is mostly for show, the move does do a small amount of damage to enemies. Bloblumord The 3rd has taken this and turned it into a grueling challenge, already beating a variety of bosses. For example, one of their more recent videos saw them take down Trobbio in Silksong.

This fight illustrated how difficult the challenge is, as defeating the boss took over 20 minutes. With the player only able to rely on one ability, learning the boss’s patterns is very important. It is worth noting that Bloblumord The 3rd enlisted the help of Shakra for a fight in the High Halls. According to the YouTuber, it is “impossible” to take down the Maestros and their Cogflies using the taunt during several of the later waves. While the overall challenge is daunting, the flying enemies in Silksong can be a particular bother.

Hollow Knight: Silksong Dev Confirms Post-Launch Support is Still Ongoing

It will be interesting to see how long Bloblumord The 3rd takes to complete their challenge run. They have already taken down some of Silksong’s most well-known bosses. They even went out of order with one of their first videos, which shows them defeating the final boss with this method. Regardless of how long it takes, the challenge reveals the player’s skill since many have struggled to beat some of the game’s bosses while playing regularly.

Team Cherry Will Add More Bosses to Silksong in Sea of Sorrow

As players come up with new challenges to make Silksong even harder, Team Cherry is busy working on new content for the game. Specifically, the developer unveiled the free Sea of Sorrow expansion earlier in December. While details were sparse, a release window of 2026 was announced. In addition, Team Cherry revealed that more bosses would be coming to the game. With this in mind, Bloblumord The 3rd could choose to continue their challenge with the new expansion’s content.

Unfortunately, it is unknown when Silksong’s Sea of Sorrow expansion will be released in the new year. However, given Team Cherry’s reputation, the wait will likely be well worth it. Fans will remember that new bosses like Nightmare King Grimm from the original Hollow Knight’s DLCs were some of the most exciting in the entire game. Time will tell what unique challenges inventive players come up with for the new bosses that will be added in Sea of Sorrow.
