In December 2025, the Spooky update went live, and players got an additional character to unlock. How to Unlock Roberto in Megabonk

Roberto isn’t a starting character in Megabonk, which means players will not be able to select him right away – they must unlock him. Firstly, they will have to complete a few tasks in order to meet the character’s unlock requirements. Then, they must purchase him from the character selection screen.

To unlock Roberto in Megabonk, players must first obtain the Scythe and beat Spooky Steve. Essentially, players will have to defeat both main bosses in Graveyard in order to be able to claim Roberto. Completing both of these quests will certainly be a feat, but our guide will provide gamers with some helpful tips and tricks that will make it much easier for them.

How to Unlock the Scythe in Megabonk

Just like Roberto, the Scythe was also added to Megabonk in the Spooky update. To unlock this spooky character, players will first have to obtain his weapon, the Scythe.

To get the Scythe in Megabonk, players have to beat Big Bob – the stage boss of the Graveyard map. Players will have to leave the Crypt and visit the Graveyard in order to encounter Big Bob in Megabonk. In Graveyard, they will be tasked with collecting four keys, which will allow them to return to the Crypt. However, before they return, they must make the most of their time in the Graveyard. On a first attempt, players might think that 16 minutes to level up is plenty of time, but the enemies are tougher compared to Forest and Desert, so reaching the boss is already a more difficult task to start with.

They must make sure that they level up their character as much as they can and find powerful items for the fight against the stage boss. Once they’re ready, they should head to the Crypt, open its door, and move inside. To find Big Bob, they must reach the back of the Crypt and open the next door.

The fight against Big Bob can be challenging if players aren’t prepared or are not sure what to do against him. Big Bob inhabits a dark stone room. Players have to light the four lamp posts in each corner to light up the room and damage Big Bob.

Gamers must be careful, as he will summon rocks and trees to stop them. A red marker will appear, letting players know where he will spawn these dangerous objects so they have a chance to avoid them. Big Bob will also occasionally fill the room with lava. Thankfully, there are some platforms that will remain afloat, allowing players to avoid this attack.

The best way to continue lighting up the lamp posts while the floor is lava is to invest in extra jumps at Charge Shrines while in the graveyard.

Players will be one step closer to obtaining the Scythe once they’ve successfully defeated Big Bob. However, just like any other unlockable weapon in Megabonk, they must purchase it in the Unlocks section. The Scythe costs 44 Silver Coins, which means gamers might have to grind for some money after defeating the Graveyard’s map stage boss in Megabonk.

If players want to get their hands on the Scythe faster but they’re short on cash, they can simply refund some of their perks in the Shop and get some money back. They can also attempt to complete some easy Quests that they might’ve left behind.

How to Kill Big Steve in Megabonk

Next, players will have to defeat Spooky Steve, which they will most likely come across first, but will undoubtedly have a harder time defeating. Spooky Steve spawns in the Crypt once the timer runs out. If they’re not quick to reach the Graveyard, they will come face to face with Spooky Steve before they even have a chance to level up properly.

However, when they collect the four keys in Graveyard and return to the Crypt, they’ll have another chance to summon him and will be much more prepared to take him on.

To defeat Spooky Steve in Megabonk, players will have to make this their entire goal of the run, as they will need specific items to avoid dying to his attacks. Spooky Steve is extremely bulky, and he is so strong that he will immediately eliminate players if he comes into contact with them.

The best way to successfully kill Spooky Steve is to render him immobel, so players can safely deal damage to him without being one-shot by him. Players can do this by selecting items that freeze or stun them, such as the Thunder Mitts, Ice Cube, and the Power Gloves. They will want to select the Aegis to block oncoming hits and use the Dexecutioner, as its Execute ability is how players will be able to deal damage to Spooky Steve. Roberto Character Overview

Starting Weapon: Scythe – Slash in a circle around you. Killing Elite Enemies charges a stronger attack.
Unique Ability: Hoarder – Free chest every 60 seconds, increasing to 120 seconds over levels. He can also float (a little).

When gamers play as Roberto, they will have the Scythe as their starting weapon. It protects them against enemies coming from all directions, and it also boosts a stronger attack when they eliminate an Elite Enemy. Players can improve this weapon further by increasing its Quantity and Attack Speed.

As for Roberto’s unique ability, he will spawn a free chest every minute. As the run goes on, and gamers level up, this will only happen every two minutes. Since he will undoubtedly open a higher number of chests, players should take advantage of this perk and attempt to get Card items to improve his stats further.

Additionally, since he is a ghost, he is able to jump further than most characters due to his floating ability. The amount of time he floats isn’t much compared to Birdo, but it’s enough to get him out of a tough situation or reach certain locations.
