New PlayStation Code Gets You Free Ghost of Yotei PSN Avatars

By newsgame

PS5 gamers can use a new code to get some free PSN avatars based on Ghost of Yotei. With eight avatars to choose from, this promotion allows fans of Sucker Punch Productions’ latest game to express their fandom on PS5.

Among the biggest releases of the year for the PS5 was Ghost of Yotei. As a spiritual successor to the popular Ghost of Tsushima, the game had high expectations to fulfill. The game is set roughly 300 years after the previous game, and puts players in control of Atsu as she takes on the Yotei Six, a band of outlaws who were responsible for the death of her family. While the game faced some controversies leading up to its release, it received positive reviews and has sold millions since its October 2 launch. The game is currently exclusive to PS5, and fans can take advantage of a free promotion for the game on the console.

To close out the year, Sucker Punch revealed a new batch of PSN codes that let players get eight avatars based on Ghost of Yotei. Gamers living in the Americas can use code 8GGE-5H6P-QMTC to redeem the free items. There are also codes for those residing in Europe/Australia, Asia, Korea, and Japan. As expected, the avatars are based on some of the game’s characters, along with a bird and a wolf. In order to redeem the items, gamers need to go to the PlayStation Store and enter the code for their region.

It is worth noting that this is not the first group of avatars based on the game to be released. Those who pre-ordered any of the three versions of Ghost of Yotei received seven PSN avatars. These previous avatars included Atsu and the Yotei Six, explaining her absence in the most recent batch. However, those avatars required fans to pre-order the game, meaning that some players missed out. Fortunately, the latest ones are free to claim for all PS5 users.

These Ghost of Yotei avatars join the list of avatars that have been released for PS5 users. While some of them are immediately accessible by going to the Profile page on the console, others require users to redeem codes, similar to the ones for Ghost of Yotei. For example, Sony gave away several anniversary-themed avatars back in August to celebrate 15 years of PS Plus. These avatars included ones themed after Cyberpunk 2077, God of War Ragnarok, Twisted Metal, Hogwarts Legacy, and Diablo 4. Given the company’s track record, even more avatars will be released in the coming months to help gamers customize their profiles.

While players can take advantage of this promotion for free PSN avatars, PlayStation also recently added nine new games to its Extra and Premium tiers of PS Plus. Despite Ghost of Yotei not being available on the subscription service, this month has seen a wide variety of other games join the lineup, such as Planet Coaster 2, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, and Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Additionally, the Essential tier added games like Killing Floor 3 and Neon White for December, giving players more options for gaming over the holidays.

Besides new games for PS Plus, the PlayStation Store typically gets an end-of-the-year sale. While Ghost of Yotei might be too new for a potential discount, Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima might get marked down on the digital storefront. Additionally, it is worth mentioning that the Director’s Cut of the 2020 title is currently 40% off on Steam for those looking to play on PC. This deal comes via Steam’s annual Winter Sale, which runs until January 5.
