The Xbox Countdown sale 2025 has officially begun, offering a plethora of discounts on AAA games, indies, and everything in between, including some of the biggest releases of 2025. The Xbox Countdown sale will run until January 7, 2026, but there are some excellent deals this year that gamers simply can’t afford to miss.
Beginning all the way back in 2010, the Xbox Countdown sale is essentially the Xbox equivalent of Steam’s Winter sale, with it usually kicking off around December 20 and lasting until early January. Much like the Steam Winter sale, gamers can often find thousands of reduced titles included in Xbox’s Countdown sale, and the 2025 sale is no different. There are over 2,000 video games included in the Xbox Countdown sale 2025, including 10 absolute bargains.
Xbox Game Pass Confirms 4 Classic Retro Games Coming to the Service Soon
Xbox has confirmed that four more games are heading to the Retro Classics collection, a service which is exclusively available via Xbox Game Pass.

While the list above isn’t in a specific order, Batman: Arkham Collection may be the best deal in the Xbox Countdown sale 2025. With a 90% discount, Batman: Arkham Collection has been reduced from $59.99 to just $5.99, an undeniably excellent price for three critically acclaimed games and all of their respective DLCs. It’s not directly comparable, but SteamDB lists Batman: Arkham Collection‘s lowest-ever price as $8.99, making this Xbox Countdown deal even sweeter.
Though there are plenty of 2025 releases included in Xbox’s Countdown sale, most have a reduction of just 20–25%. Monster Hunter Wilds, on the other hand, has a solid 45% discount, reducing it from its retail price of $69.99 to $38.49. Some other recent heavy hitters included in Xbox’s Countdown sale are Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, which has been reduced by 60%, Hogwarts Legacy: Digital Deluxe Edition, which is 85% off, and Mortal Kombat 1: Definitive Edition, which costs $17.49 and includes all DLC, including the Khaos Reigns expansion and both Kombat Packs.
At the cheapest end of the spectrum is A Way Out, Hazelight’s 2018 co-op action-adventure game that laid the groundwork for It Takes Two and Split Fiction. For $2.99, A Way Out is certainly worth picking up ahead of the holidays. Amnesia: The Bunker is another great game under $5, offering a truly terrifying survival horror experience. Those excited by Control: Resonant‘s reveal at The Game Awards 2025 should also consider picking up Alan Wake 2 during the Xbox Countdown sale, with it being 70% off, and its Deluxe Edition upgrade (which grants all DLC) being reduced from $20 to just $6.
