Don’t Miss Out On This Incredible Lord of the Rings Poster Set

It’s a holiday tradition in many households to watch the Lord of the Rings trilogy, either in its original theatrical form or the extended editions if you’re a purist. Those three films are some of the most treasured in cinematic history, offering iconic scene after iconic scene, and fans already have tons of ways to celebrate their love for the films. Now they have one more, with Mondo’s latest pre-order release.

Mondo has a Lord of the Rings trilogy bundle available for pre-order from now until December 19th that is simply spectacular. For $270, you can stake your claim on these three posters illustrated by Riccardo Federici. Each poster features an iconic scene from the three Peter Jackson-directed films, one for Fellowship, Two Towers, and Return of the King, brought to life in a stylized, 10-color 24×36-inch design.

Mondo was kind enough to send over an early-release set of the Lord of the Rings prints, and they are simply stunning. Federici’s art is spectacular and packed with detail, but what I appreciate the most is the choice of scene for each poster.

There are a few scenes that you typically see when it comes to Lord of the Rings posters like Gandalf and the Balrog or practically anything with Gollum, but this set offers something a little different. Isildur facing down Sauron, the Ents fighting the Orcs, and Eowyn and the Witch King are no doubt classic sequences from their respective LotR films, but you rarely see them featured in major pieces of artwork like this. For fans of Peter Jackson’s films, this set is a worthy addition to a collection and can be displayed proudly.

I also love how minimalistic the backgrounds are for each poster, allowing the key characters to stand out even more. There is so much detail in the key character that you could get lost poring over just one of the posters. But the fact that there are three makes it hard to choose which one to display if you have limited space. Mondo has once again found an artist who can bring something special to a property that has had plenty of impressive collaborations.

Mondo has been one of my favorite brands for several decades now, due in large part to the company’s early roots with posters. Their partnership with a diverse selection of artists and posters that featured a great mixture of cult hits, classics, and current releases (at the time) was a big boon for my collection, even if my wallet always took a major hit.

While the Mondo family has grown to include collectibles and vinyl soundtracks from a wide variety of media, they originally were the biggest name in movie posters. At Comic-Con especially, Mondo posters were some of the most coveted items, drawing lines so large that the fire marshal needed to step in and cut things off. So whenever a new Mondo poster is revealed, I can’t help but feel that itch to collect again.

As mentioned, this is a timed pre-order for the three Lord of the Rings poster set, so you only have until 11:59am CT to pick them up at Mondo’s website. While the scarcity of Mondo posters is still a thing and can help drive up interest, it’s always nice when the company does these pre-orders where anyone can guarantee they will get their hands on a poster (or in this case, three posters).
