PS Plus is Losing At Least 4 Games in January 2026
PlayStation Plus subscribers will have to say goodbye to at least four games in January 2026, according to the service’s latest update. PlayStation Plus is usually updated two times every month. One PS Plus update comes at the beginning of the month, giving subscribers their new monthly free games, and the second update comes in the middle of the month to add the latest titles to the Extra and Premium tiers of the service.
At the beginning of December, PS Plus subscribers were treated to five free games instead of the usual three, with Killing Floor 3, LEGO Horzion Adventures, Neon White, Synduality: Echo of Ada, and The Outlast Trials free to claim right now. On December 8, PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers got access to day one game Skate Story, and then on December 16, they received Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Cat Quest 3, Granblue Fantasy: Relink, LEGO Horizon Adventures, PAW Patrol: Grand Prix, PAW Patrol World, Planet Coaster 2, and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. That same day, Soulcalibur 3 was added exclusively to the Premium tier.
Every Monthly Game Added To PS Plus (Updated For December 2025)
New monthly PlayStation Plus games! Sony is always adding new goodies to its subscription service across all three tiers. Here are all of them.
That marks the end of major PS Plus updates for 2025, and so subscribers are no doubt looking forward to what next year has in store. We don’t know what the free PS Plus games for January 2026 will be, and we also don’t know what games are coming to the Extra and Premium tiers. What we do know is what games will be leaving in January, and so subscribers should definitely make sure to check these games out while they still can. On January 20, PS Plus Extra and Premium will be saying goodbye to Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, SD Gundam Battle Alliance, Sayonara Wild Hearts, and Monopoly Plus.
List of PS Plus Games Leaving Soon
- Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name
- Monopoly Plus
- Sayonara Wild Hearts
- SD Gundam Battle Alliance
Out of all the games leaving PS Plus in January 2026, the one that subscribers should prioritize is Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, but with a major asterisk attached. Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name features one of the most emotionally-charged narratives out of all the games currently available on PS Plus. The catch is that the story won’t hit the same if you haven’t played all the Like a Dragon/Yakuza games leading up to The Man Who Erased His Name. It’s a tall order to expect a newcomer to play through the entire Like a Dragon series between now and when The Man Who Erased His Name is removed on January 20, but it’s still a good game if you haven’t played those titles.
Sayonara Wild Hearts is another game that PS Plus subscribers might want to prioritize while it’s still on the service. A rhythm action game, Sayonara Wild Hearts is a short but sweet experience that was nominated for and won multiple awards at the time of its release in 2019. Sayonara Wild Hearts earned strong reviews and is definitely worth checking out while it’s on PS Plus. There’s definitely enough time to play through it all between now and when it’s removed, at least.
January 2026 Will Bring Big Changes to PS Plus
Besides the fact that these games are leaving PS Plus in January and new games will be added, next month will also mark the end of PS4 focus for the subscription service. There may still be PS Plus games made available to PS4 games, but that will largely be because they are cross-gen games. PS Plus subscribers that have yet to upgrade to a PS5 will definitely want to consider doing so sooner rather than later if they want to get the most out of their PS Plus subscription in 2026.
