ARC Raiders Reveals New Item for Cold Snap Update
ARC Raiders developer Embark Studios has given fans a sneak peek at one of the new items set to be added to the game with this week’s highly anticipated Cold Snap update. While ARC Raiders players already have one musical item available in-game, Embark is about to give fans even more ways to make some tunes Topside, as a short teaser trailer for the next content update confirms that a Guitar will soon be added to the extraction shooter.
Despite launching smack bang in the middle of Battlefield 6 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, two of the biggest first-person shooters of the year, ARC Raiders has still found huge success over the last couple of months. At launch, Embark’s newest title managed to soar to more than 481,000 concurrent players on Steam, making it one of the most played games on the platform. Even after nearly 7 weeks, ARC Raiders still averages around 300,000 concurrent players at peak hours. For reference, Battlefield 6 often peaks at around 150,000 players, while Call of Duty only peaks at 65,000. Among many other things, ARC Raiders‘ steady stream of new content updates is likely one of the main reasons it continues to hold steady in terms of active players, and its next major patch is set to arrive this week.
Some ARC Raiders Players Are Skipping the Grind and Just Buying Blueprints on eBay
Tired of grinding for rare items or looking for the fastest way to progress in ARC Raiders, some players turn to eBay to buy blueprints.
The Cold Snap update will be ARC Raiders‘ second major content update since its release in October. This time, fans will be able to check out the new Snowfall map condition, which will cover the game’s map in snow, compromising visibility, making Raiders unsteady on their feet when walking on frozen water, and putting them in danger if they stay outside for too long. The update will also see the release of a brand-new Raider Deck, bringing tons of new cosmetic items to the game, as well as the first departure window for the Expedition Project, and more.
ARC Raiders Is Adding a Guitar in Its Next Update
In a new YouTube video, Embark Studios has revealed that ARC Raiders‘ Cold Snap update will bring a new Guitar item to the game. Similar to the flute, it likely won’t serve much of a purpose other than allowing players to blast some music while Topside. By the looks of the short trailer shared by the studio, the Guitar will seemingly attract the attention of ARC enemies nearby, so it’s probably best that players take caution if they plan to use it in an open area.
Many players have been using the Flute as a way to let other Raiders know they mean no harm, so it’s likely that the Guitar is going to offer a similar purpose. Maybe the two can be played side-by-side for an epic harmony? For now, we’ll have to wait until the update goes live on December 16 to see what the Guitar is like in-game.
As for what else will be added to the game this week, Embark has also revealed one of the new ARC Raiders skins players will be able to get their hands on. Shown at the end of a recent trailer, the newest outfit to be added to the game will don a thick coat and gloves (likely to survive the new blistering weather conditions), solar panels on the arms that appear to be powering some sort of device on the Raider’s wrist, and a mask, cap, and eye visor. Unfortunately, the skin appears to have already drawn some criticisms from the community, as players called it “ugly” and “awful.”
Fans are also eager to see how many bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements will be included in the next ARC Raiders update, as numerous issues have been plaguing the same over the last few weeks. While the studio says its most recent patch has addressed an out-of-bounds glitch on Stella Montis and Blue Gate, it took players just hours to find another similar exploit of the maps. With the holiday period fast approaching, players are calling for Embark to address the exploits as soon as possible.
