This Diablo 4 Season 11 Paladin Build Basically Turns You into Marvel’s Thor
Players jumping into Diablo 4 Season 11 have an array of new builds possible thanks to the addition of the Paladin class for those who pre-purchase the Lord of Hatred expansion. While the surprise announcement of the Paladin being made available for Diablo 4 Season 11 may have left players scrambling to choose a new build, there are quite a few meta options available for the new class. One of the best Paladin builds for Diablo 4 Season 11 is a throwback to the Hammerdin of Diablo 2 fame, and is ideal for fans of Marvel’s Thor to cosplay as the God of Thunder.
Fans of Marvel Comics, games, or the Marvel Cinematic Universe are likely familiar with this Asgardian. Thor has appeared as a playable character in several Marvel games, including Marvel Rivals, Marvel’s Avengers, and Marvel Ultimate Alliance, but not many Diablo fans would have expected that Thor could be playable in Diablo 4, albeit unofficially. The ability to wield a hammer and rain divine judgment down on foes makes Diablo 4‘s Paladin perfectly suited for a Thor cosplay build, and it even fits into the Season 11 meta nicely, too.
Diablo 4’s Hammerdin Paladin Build is Perfect for Cosplaying as Marvel’s Thor
Arguably the most iconic part of Thor is his hammer, Mjolnir, which he wields in a variety of ways, including throwing it at enemies and swinging it around himself during combat. The other abilities Thor is known for include the power of flight and the ability to conjure lightning to smite foes with. While Diablo 4‘s Paladin doesn’t use lightning, the holy skills they summon are close enough that the class can essentially utilize all three of Thor’s most iconic traits.
Thor Paladin Needs These Key Skills in Diablo 4 Season 11
- Holy Bolt — Throw a Holy hammer, dealing 90% x damage.
- Blessed Hammer — Throw a Blessed Hammer that spirals out, dealing 115% x damage.
- Falling Star — Soar into the air with angelic wings and dive onto the battlefield, dealing 80% x damage on takeoff and 240% x damage on landing.
To really feel like Thor in Diablo 4, Paladin players will want to be throwing hammers as much as possible. The two skills perfect for doing this are Holy Bolt and Blessed Hammer, both of which allow players to sling hammers at enemies. While Holy Bolt is a Basic Skill that throws a hammer in a straight line, Blessed Hammer is a Core Skill in Diablo 4 that swings a hammer around the Paladin to damage enemies in an increasing arc. Falling Star replicates Thor’s flight ability, allowing players to launch themselves into the air and slam down on enemies in a move that is perfect for both mobility and damage.
The Ideal Gear for Playing as Thor Includes the Paladin’s Own ‘Mjolnir’
No Thor build would be complete without his iconic hammer, Mjolnir. In Diablo 4, the best Mjolnir substitute is the Herald’s Morningstar Unique for the Paladin. While this Unique Diablo 4 weapon is technically a One-Handed Mace, it does the job of playing Mjolnir quite well with a fantastic Unique Affix:
-
Herald’s Morningstar
- +10.0% Lucky Hit Chance
- +[107-121] Strength
- +[489-526] Maximum Life
- +[2-3] to Blessed Hammer
- +[47.0-65.0]% Chance for Blessed Hammer to Deal Double Damage
- Unique Affix: Blessed Hammer deals [110-150]%[x] increased damage. Lucky Hit: Up to a 20% chance to spawn a base Blessed Hammer on the target hit.
Having a chance for Blessed Hammer to deal double damage on top of already increasing the skill’s damage makes this Unique worthy of the God of Thunder. The Lucky Hit chance to spawn another Blessed Hammer is just the icing on the cake that makes this Unique a must-use weapon for Hammerdin builds.
