Helldivers 2 CEO Comments on Possible Ports to Other Platforms

By newsgame

Arrowhead Game Studios CEO Shams Jorjani has commented on the possibility of Helldivers 2 coming to other platforms in the future. While Helldivers 2 is already available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, there’s still one major console on which the game isn’t playable right now.

As a Sony-published game, it was already a fairly big surprise when it was announced that Helldivers 2 was coming to Xbox earlier this year. It had been a massive console exclusive for PlayStation, and it was ultimately a sign of the times that the decision was made to bring it to Xbox. However, with Helldivers 2 being a strong performer on Xbox, it stands to reason that Sony could see its future on as many platforms as possible.

Helldivers 2 CEO Says ‘We’ll See’ About Switch 2 Port

In a recent episode of the Game Business Show, host Christopher Dring was joined by Arrowhead Game Studios CEO Shams Jorjani. During the show, Dring joked that he’s “going to wait for the Switch 2 version now, I think,” to which Jorjani responded, “We’ll see, we’ll see. That’s again, above my pay grade by a couple of tiers.” So while Helldivers 2 on Switch 2 feels like a pipe dream right now, Jorjani didn’t seem totally dismissive of the idea, even if Dring’s initial quip was merely an off-handed joke. Again, though, it does seem that Jorjani won’t have the final say on the matter, regardless of his personal feelings about a Switch 2 port.

It’s interesting to see how front-facing Arrowhead’s CEO is. Jorjani is often active on the Helldivers 2 Discord server, responding to players about potential future content. It’s certainly a great way to ensure players feel their voices are heard, knowing they essentially have a direct line to the developer’s CEO. In the modern gaming industry, this is increasingly rare, but Jorjani is the exception to the rule.

Before Helldivers 2 can think about coming to any new platforms, it feels more likely that focus will be put on fixing the game’s ongoing performance issues. Right now, Helldivers 2 is changing its development approach to ensure that performance is improved in the coming months, with rapid new content taking more of a backseat in favor of stability. That’s why a Helldivers 2 Switch 2 version feels so unlikely at the moment, although it’ll be interesting to see if anything comes of it when the game feels more stable and performance-friendly.
