You Can Play a Demo of Capcom’s Mysterious New Sci-Fi Game Pragmata Right Now

By newsgame

Capcom’s new game, Pragmata, is one step closer being played by fans, as a release date has been revealed and a demo is now available. In addition, it was revealed for the first time that Pragmata will be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2.

Pragmata has been a curiosity among Capcom fans, as it’s a completely new IP that has remained extremely mysterious since its introduction. The action-adventure title focuses on a lunar research station in which Hugh, the main playable character, is seeking a way to stop the hostile AI in control of the station and to get back home to Earth. He’s joined by an android called Diana, who looks like a young child and typically perches on Hugh’s back when he engages in combat.

Pragmata Gameplay Shows Combat and Hacking Puzzles

Capcom reveals more details about the long-awaited sci-fi game Pragmata, showcasing its innovative gameplay and hacking puzzles.

Pragmata Reveals Release Date and Pre-Orders

During The Game Awards 2025, Pragmata made an early appearance by way of a new pre-order trailer. Gamers who have been eager to check this Capcom game out will likely be pleased to know that it now has a release date of April 24, 2026. In addition to the previously-revealed release platforms of PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on Steam, the Nintendo Switch 2 has now been added to the list of launch platforms. Gamers on PC can check out the demo, called Pragmata Sketchbook, on Steam immediately. A demo for the remaining platforms is “coming soon,” so hopefully PS5, Xbox, and Nintendo fans don’t have too long to wait.

In addition to a demo and pre-orders opening, Pragmata revealed some of the extra bonuses players can get for pre-ordering the game or purchasing the Deluxe Edition. Pre-orders will receive an outfit set for Hugh and Diana called the Neo Bushido and Neo Kunoichi outfit set, which give Hugh and Diana samurai and ninja-inspired armor, respectively. The Deluxe Edition comes with a number of extra goodies grouped under the Shelter Variety Pack. This includes a cat-themed outfit set with a “Fluffy” costume for Diana and a “Lunar Cat” for Hugh, as well as a mecha-inspired set with a “Mecha Builder” costume for Diana and a “Heavy Lifter” outfit for Hugh. The deluxe edition also includes Shelter BGM songs, three gestures for Diana, a Weapon Skin Grip Gun DS for Hugh’s starter weapon, and a data library of artwork created in the development of the game. On Steam, the Deluxe Edition costs $69.99, so just $10 over the base game’s $59.99 price tag.

Those looking to decipher more about the story in the game from this trailer may end up with more questions instead. The trailer primarily highlights combat, but also offers a few looks into the relationship between Hugh and Diana as they talk about the ocean back on Earth. Hugh hints at the notion of Diana coming with him when he heads back to his home planet, though it’s not clear if she can or wants to. In terms of combat, Hugh faces off against a humanoid robot, drones, and a hulking robot, while Diana can be seen using her special abilities to support him.

While there’s still some time to wait before players get their hands on Pragmata, thankfully, it seems as though the release date is now set in stone. Pragmata was first revealed back in 2020, but was unfortunately delayed multiple times, as the dev team needed sufficient time to balance combat. Having the player control both Hugh’s combat and Diana’s hacking skills likely required some fine-tuning to ensure that combat flowed well and wasn’t overly difficult for new players to understand. So far, Capcom has done a good job of keeping the mysterious story locked down, so chances are a lot of gamers will be checking out Pragmata when it releases in 2026.
