New Pokemon TCG Pocket Crimson Blaze Expansion Reveals 15 New Cards Coming Soon

By newsgame

Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket has revealed its official expansion for December 2025, which is titled Crimson Blaze and will feature Mega Evolved versions of the Kanto starter cards for players to collect and do battle with. Another 12 cards have also been revealed for Pokemon TCG Pocket, but the Mega Evolutions will clearly be Crimson Blaze’s centerpiece, with one whose attack that can one-hit-KO almost any Pokemon in the game without burning off energy.

Since its launch at the end of October 2024, Creatures Inc and DeNa’s take on the tabletop card game has attracted huge numbers of players, with more than 60 million downloads recorded within its first six weeks of availability. Its popularity has stayed strong in the game community, with Pokemon TCG Pocket even dethroning Pokemon GO in terms of first-year revenue, earning an estimated $1.3 billion by October 30, 2025 and achieving its status as the most profitable Pokemon mobile game in its debut year.

Now, a new expansion is planned to launch on December 17, adding a new set of Mega Evolution Pokemon to Pokemon TCG Pocket. Fans of the Kanto starters will be excited to see powerful new cards added in the form of Mega Venusaur, Mega Blastoise, and Mega Charizard Y, all of which weigh in with a minimum of 220 HP and come prepared with some powerful attacks, which have been revealed via a new trailer and on the official Pokemon website. The Gen-1 starter Pokemon have received new cards in multiple previously released boosters, but with the Mega Evolution mechanic only added to the game a handful of weeks ago, these newest iterations could even make the EX versions of them obsolete in the meta game.

The card getting the most attention is Mega Charizard Y EX, which comes with 220 HP and a Crimson Dive attack that deals out 250 damage once powered up with four energy, although it does result in 50 points of damage to self with each use. Mega Blastoise EX is a little heavier at 230 HP, and its Triple Bombardment attack is more economical at three energy required, though having six energy on it boosts its attack value from 130 to 180 and deals an additional 50 damage each to two of the opponent’s benched Pokemon. Lastly, Mega Venusaur EX comes in at a whopping 250 HP, and for four energy, its Critical Bloom attack deals out dual Asleep and Poisoned status effects, along with 120 damage. There’s still no official sign of Mega Charizard X being added to the Crimson Blaze expansion, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it couldn’t be coming to the game as a surprise addition.

There are also some newly revealed Pokemon TCG Pocket Trainer Cards that have the potential to mix things up. A new Serena Supporter Card will let players put a random Mega Evolution Pokemon card into their hand, which should benefit players who have been facing hard times with their decks’ RNG. Also boosting the chance of getting a Mega Evolution early, the Quick-Grow Extract Item Card works specifically with Grass-type Pokemon and lets players add a Mega Evolution card from the deck to an in-play Pokemon that could normally evolve into it. Lastly, the upcoming Clemont Supporter Card is much more specialized, placing two random Magneton, Heliolisk, or Clemont’s Backpack cards into players’ hands from their decks.

Other cards that have been teased are new versions of Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Charmander, Charmeleon, Solosis, Trubbish, Ditto, Sunflora, and Spritzee. Since most of those Pokemon come from evolutionary lines, it’s likely that the other cards from those lines will be included once the expansion launches, including Ivysaur and Wartortle. Still, with how Rare Candy has changed Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s competitive scene, most players aren’t likely to get too excited about mid-stage evolutions.
