How To Find All Winterlights Chests in Palia (Zeki’s Challenge)

By newsgame

With the festive season in full force, Palia continues its annual tradition of covering Kilima in snow, icicles, and Christmas decorations with its Winterlights update. The final update for 2025 offers festive challenges, new decor to use on your plot, and another bundle board to complete for rewards and friendship points.

One of the first tasks players will be encouraged to complete is a scavenger hunt, where Zeki has hidden a number of chests that can only be found by solving a number of riddles. For those seeking the locations of all hidden Winterlights Chests in Palia, this guide offers the solution to each riddle.

All Winterlights Chest Locations in Palia

As players enter the Winterlights update for December 2025, they will find a note from Zeki in their letterbox with seven short riddles that hint at the locations of seven themed chests. To complete the quest, you will need to locate and loot all of these chests

You can check the riddles again at any time by reading the book on the corner of the counter in Zeki’s shop.

First Winterlights Chest Location

One’s stayin’ hydrated by the Inn’s outer docks.

The first chest can be found on the outskirts of Kilima’s central village, behind the inn where you usually will find Reth and Ashura hard at work. There are docks attached to the building, some that venture underneath the structure, and another section that expands on the main building at ground level.

To find the chest, go behind the building and look to the side to find a water tank. You will find the chest tucked in behind it. This location is at map coordinate E7.

Second Winterlights Chest Location

Two was headed to Embra but slipped on the rocks

For players who keep tabs on the lore behind Palia, this chest may not be too much of a challenge. However, if you are not aware of who Embra is, this clue will not be particularly useful. The first thing that players need to know is Embra is the name of the great phoenix in Palia.

With this in mind, you will want to venture to the Phoenix Falls location in the far central-north of Kilima, as this is home to a great statue of Embra. As you arrive at the location, look to the left of the first ramp going up toward the shrine. It is nestled among the rocks, by the river. This location is at map coordinate F4.

Third Winterlights Chest Location

Three’s by the pond and can’t find its way down.

Players will want to focus specifically on the word “pond” in this clue, as it gives a specific hint as to the location you need to be at for this chest. In order to find it, you will need to go to the Mirror Pond Ruins in Kilima.

The second half of the clue is great for narrowing down where exactly you need to look, as it is quite a large and open space. The “can’t find its way down” line indicates that the chest is in a high place. Look for the large fallen column almost leaning against a tree. This location is at map coordinate D3.

Collecting the chest can be a little tricky because of the chest’s positioning and due to players being unable to climb the tree. The best strategy is to glide into the tree and spam the loot button (F on PC)

Fourth Winterlights Chest Location

While four’s catching Zzz’s in an office in town

The mention of an office makes this chest a little easier to find, as there’s essentially only really one building in Kilima where you can find an office. To find the chest, you’ll need to go to the Town Hall, where you can purchase Writs for additional land and Crafting Licenses to increase your plot’s station capacity.

There are two offices in the Town Hall building. The most obvious choice, you would think, is Kenli’s, as the “catching Zzz’s” line feels fitting for the mayor. It isn’t in his office however, but Eshe’s. Head upstairs and into Eshe’s office, and you will find the chest on the right as you walk in. This location is at map coordinate F7.

Fifth Winterlights Chest Location

Five thinks it’s hidden beneath a gazebo

The fifth chest can only be in a select few locations throughout Kilima, which makes the search a little easier, but it can be deceptively tricky to find. The gazebo in question is actually not too far from Town Hall, where the previous chest is found.

Players should head to the gazebo near Town Hall in the Village Center, which is distinguishable by the Christmas Tree inside it. Venture up to the tree, and you will find the chest in among the Christmas presents. This location is at map coordinate F7.

Sixth Winterlights Chest Location

Six ain’t eavesdroppin’, ask Jina, she’d know!

The sixth chest is perhaps the most difficult to find, as the reference to Jina can be either a help or hindrance, depending on how well you know the character. Two things players should be aware of are that Jina doesn’t have a house in Kilima like other characters like Tish, and she has a very close relationship with Hekla.

It is not Jina, but in fact Hekla, that players should focus more on. The reference to asking Jina about eavesdropping implies she spends a lot of time where the chest is. As such, the chest can be found tucked behind Hekla’s tent in the north-western corner of Kilima. This location is at map coordinate C4.

Seventh Winterlights Chest Location

The location of the final Winterlights Challenge chest in Palia

Seven’s the last, then you’ve got them all — just look in the shadows by ol’ Butterball!

The final clue is also a little challenging, as knowing who Butterball is a very niche reference in the game. However, when surveying the locations in Kilima, you can deduce that Butterball is likely an animal’s name, and there’s only one place on the map where animals are kept.

The final chest can be found at Badruu’s family farm. There are two pens with the large Ormuu animals, which you can keep as pets, but the smallest one is where you will want to look. There is a small shed in the smaller of the two pens, which is housing the final chest. This location is at map coordinate C6.
