An Unholy Prophecy is a tense Fragment Chapter Quest in Kaifeng that tests your platforming, puzzle-solving, and combat skills. This quest sends you into the Martial Temple beneath Jadewood Court in Where Winds Meet, where a Mysterious Painter sets you on a path to uncover a hidden chamber full of weapons, traps, and a dangerous enemy named Shi Zhen. This guide will walk you through the An Unholy Prophecy Quest in Where Winds Meet.
Where Winds Meet: Buddha’s Light Jade Location (The Promised Light)
If you’re not sure where to find Buddha’s Light Jade for The Promised Light quest, this guide can help.
How to Start An Unholy Prophecy Quest
To start the An Unholy Prophecy Jianghu Legacy quest in Where Winds Meet, make your way to Kaifeng and enter the Jadewood Court area. Inside this district, look for the Martial Temple.
Here, you’ll find the Mysterious Painter. He is standing inside the temple, and speaking to him will automatically start the quest. After the short conversation, a new objective marker will appear that leads you toward the temple’s western areas.
Before you start An Unholy Prophecy Quest, make sure you have the Meridian Touch Mystic Skill and a supply of fire arrows. Both of these are needed to solve puzzles throughout the quest. If you do not have fire arrows, look around the temple for a nearby quiver or learn the crafting recipe so you can craft some.
Once you are prepared, follow the quest marker outside toward the temple rooftops. When you reach the high ground, enter the Martial Hall.
How to Search For the Traces of God of Killing
In the Martial Hall, go to the quest marker and talk to the Mysterious Painter once more. After the conversation, you need to shoot the hanging lamps with fire arrows to advance the quest.
Lighting the lamps will trigger corridors to open and set the stage for the jade bell and knocker puzzles available later in the Unholy Prophecy Quest. You’ll also unlock a new emote called: An Unholy Prophecy.
The Mysterious Painter will then reveal that the true meaning of the prophecy is to stand in the God of Killing’s Place in his pose.
When you reach the marked platform next to the painter, use the An Unholy Prophecy emote from your Puzzle emotes tab while standing on the platform. Once the emote is performed, a mechanical platform will descend and grant access deeper into the temple.
Explore the Underground Passage
After descending to the underground passage, explore the area. Head into the passage located across from the barred gate. Follow this pathway until you face the guards. Defeat them to clear the area and solve the puzzle.
To unlock the door ahead, which is guarded by a jade bell and a knocker, you need to solve a quick puzzle. Strike the bell first, and then immediately use your Meridian Touch ability on the door knocker.
The door opens into the hall, a large room filled with suits of armor and weapon displays that leads you to the Secret Edict Chamber. As you make your way through it, you will face three enemies.
After the guards fall, examine the armor sets, and you will find two displays missing weapons. The quest requires you to retrieve both a long weapon and a short weapon by exploring the hall’s left and right wings.
Find the Long Weapon in the Left Wing
To retrieve the long weapon, take the stairs down near the left wing entrance. You will enter a corridor filled with wall-mounted spike traps that extend and retract in a rhythm. Observe the pattern and time your movement so you dash forward only as a spike begins to withdraw.
If you get hit, you will lose health and may be forced to restart portions of the section. Continue until you reach a lever at the end of the hall. Pulling this lever triggers mercenary guards to chase you. You can manipulate the lever again to activate the spikes and eliminate them.
Move along until you find another bell and knocker puzzle. As before, ring the bell and quickly use Meridian Touch on the knocker to open the way. Keep moving, and you will reach a chamber that’s being protected by a lone guard. Defeat that guard and take the spear.
Then, exit through the gate and continue walking until you reach a circular chamber. Look up and jump between platforms in the circular chamber until you return to the Grand Arsenal Hall.
Make sure to look around in the circular chamber to find a hidden chest.
Enter the grand hall to find another Spear: Rampage displayed in the center. Behind the spear display, you’ll face another set of horizontal spike traps, coming from the wall on the right. Walk through them when they’re open and go in through the opening in the wall.
Walk around and pass through more spike traps coming at you from both sides. Observe the pattern and then dash forward. Continue until you reach another lever at the end of the hall. Again, you’ll find another bell-and-knocker puzzle.
In the next room, you can find the Silver Spear of Discipline. On exiting this room, you’ll run into more enemies. Take them down and enter the Grand Arsenal Hall. Interact with the armor that is missing its long weapon and choose Long Weapon Returned, so the weapon returns to its display.
Find the Short Weapon in the Right Wing
Now, you need to go back to the right wing to find the short weapon. The ring wing is sort of similar to the left one but has its own set of spike traps, including ceiling-mounted spikes that fall downward.
The second set of falling spikes requires more patience. Crouch and time your movements so you only walk through when it is safe. Pull a lever to go deeper into the chambers and complete the next bell-and-knocker puzzle. The room that holds the short weapon includes a heavily defended guard with a shield.
If you fail to take down a shielded opponent with a single blow, the Tai Chi mystic skill is your best option. You can use it to break the guard and create an opening for a successful assassination.
After defeating the shielded enemy, collect the weapon. You will now enter a circular chamber containing a spiked pit. Carefully jump across the platforms to safely reach the opposite side. In the hall, you’ll find the Triumph Sword.
From here, you’ll enter another corridor with downward-falling spikes. Dash through them and activate the lever at the end. You’ll find another bell-and-knocker puzzle. Completing the puzzle opens the door to a hall where the Blackcloud Long Sword is displayed.
Take down the guards in the hallway and finish the corridor sequence. When you go back to the Grand Arsenal Hall, interact with the armor and choose Short Weapon Returned.
Enter the Hidden Door and Explore Deeper
Once both the long and short weapons have been returned to the armor display, a short cutscene will play. The restored armor triggers a hidden mechanism, causing a secret doorway to slowly open.
The door will lead you through a circular chamber with a trap mechanic that raises the floor of spikes. Make sure to sprint and jump quickly, without pausing on the platforms. Once you clear this, you will find a chest in the next chamber that will lead you to the final battle. Open the chest and prepare for the boss fight with Shi Zhen.
How to Defeat Shi Zhen
The fight against Shi Zhen happens in the final chamber of the An Unholy Prophecy quest, and it can feel overwhelming because he does not fight alone. Shi Zhen enters the room with four guards.
Do not rush directly at Shi Zhen. His guards can stun-lock you or hit you from behind, which makes his heavy attacks even harder to dodge. As soon as the fight begins, focus on eliminating the minions first. This makes the fight much easier.
Once the extras are gone, you can concentrate fully on Shi Zhen. Dodge his heavy strikes, counter when openings appear, and whittle his health down until he finally falls. After the battle, a cutscene will play, and you can claim the rewards left inside the chest.
With Shi Zhen defeated, follow the quest marker out of the underground area. The Mysterious Painter will be waiting for you once you return to the surface. Speak with him one final time to officially complete the An Unholy Prophecy quest.
