ARC Raiders May Be Getting Highly Requested Feature After Security Breach Nerf

While ARC Raiders has been doing very well for itself since launch, even to the point of becoming a Game of the Year contender, its recent Security Breach nerf has sparked controversy among players who made a beeline for the skill for the valuable loot offered by Security Lockers. However, Embark recently stated in ARC Raiders‘ official Discord that a highly requested feature may be on the way that will help those who can no longer take full advantage of Security Breach refund the 36 skill points they invested in the Survival tree to unlock the skill in the first place.

“In the notes earlier today, we missed the Security Locker drop rate changes. We understand that this change affects those of you who specifically aimed for that skill tree spec. We’re exploring the possibility of adding a skill reset mechanic,” said ARC Raiders community lead Ossen via Discord. A skill reset mechanic has been a highly requested feature since the game’s launch, and it seems fans may finally get what they’ve been asking for.

ARC Raiders Is Looking at Adding a Skill Reset Mechanic

Prior to the nerf, Security Breach allowed players to open Security Lockers in ARC Raiders filled with a wealth of resources for them to take back to Speranza. However, per Embark’s commitment to maintaining balance in the game, Security Lockers now contain what some players might consider to be much less valuable items, like grenades and ammo.

What makes this so controversial, though, is not that players can’t still benefit from Security Breach in ARC Raiders, but that many of them, once they saw just how valuable the skill was, invested the whopping 36 skill points required to unlock it when they could have been sharing those points with other skills. Now, the road ahead looks even longer for those players, who realize that their only current way to reverse this is to send their Raider on an Expedition.

At the moment, ARC Raiders Expeditions are the only method players have for resetting their skill tree. The catch, however, is that Expeditions are exceedingly expensive, requiring an immense amount of resources to perform. Some have actually written Expeditions off as not worth the effort, though they run on a fixed cycle, with the benefits gained from performing one not triggering until a certain date.

Thus, a skill reset mechanic would undoubtedly be a welcome feature for ARC Raiders, as players could still benefit from Expeditions in other ways and yet not have to wait for them in order to respec their skill tree. It will presumably cost resources or money in order to perform a skill reset in ARC Raiders, but at least players will have an easier route to it than relying solely on Expeditions — assuming Embark does, in fact, implement the feature.
