How to Reach Ohio in Fallout 76 Burning Springs
Burning Springs is an extension of the base Fallout 76 map that significantly expands the game’s open-world space. The area is a portion of what’s left of Ohio following the nuclear apocalypse, and it’s got plenty of content for players to discover. Burning Springs was added to the game as part of a free expansion of the same name, which means everyone will be able to explore it.
This map extension also comes with its own questline, and if you want to sink your teeth into what the Ohio Wasteland has to offer in Fallout 76, here’s what you need to do and where you need to go.
Fallout 76: How to Fish
Fishing in Fallout 76 might be trickier than it seems at first glance, so here’s a full guide on the fishing mini-game and every aspect of it.
Fallout 76 Welcoming Committee Quest Guide
The Burning Springs update kicks off with Welcoming Committee, a quest that players should automatically receive once they start the game. If you don’t have this quest in your log, then you’ll probably need to level up first.
The Welcoming Committee quest will ask you to investigate an emergency broadcast. Open your Pip-Boy, then tune into the Ohio Distress Broadcast station. You’ll hear a message from a woman who has apparently gotten herself into some big trouble. Once the transmission ends, head on over to Point Pleasant, the same place where you can find some Mothman Eggs in Fallout 76. If you’ve never been to Point Pleasant before, it’s due east of Vault 76,
You can get to Burning Springs even without doing the Welcoming Committee quest. However, you may want to level up and get a good build going first.
Unlike previous expansions that introduced maps set in distant locations, the new map for Burning Springs is integrated seamlessly into the Appalachian Wasteland. Cross the bridge at Point Pleasant, and you’ll be well on your way to what’s left of Ohio in Fallout 76.
Follow the road, and you’ll eventually reach a fortified checkpoint that’s heavily fortified by raiders. Clear them out, then make your way to the top of the nearby tower. Ava, the woman who you heard on the radio, will be inside.
Speak with Ava, and you’ll quickly find yourself tricked and sent to a jail cell. Speak with Eugene, one of your fellow prisoners, to get a rundown of what just happened to you. After speaking with him, you’ll then need to talk to Silas, the other prisoner in the cell next door, and once you’re done with him, some guards will let all of you loose.
Make your way through the stage and approach the Rust King, a Super Mutant who leads the local raider army called the Rust Kingdom. He’ll agree to let you go, on the condition that you kill Silas.
Should You Side with Silas or Eugene?
Your choice here ultimately doesn’t matter, as regardless of who you pick as your ally, Silas will always end up dying. If you side with Eugene, Silas will become hostile and try to stab you, at which point, you can just deal with him however you see fit. However, if you side with Silas, the Rust King will summon waves of enemies to attack you, and Silas will end up dying in the process.
For practicality’s sake, it’s better to side with Eugene so you don’t end up wasting any precious ammo (unless you’re using a melee build, of course).
After the fight, speak with Rust King again. He’ll have one of his guys knock you out, and once you wake up, you’ll be at the Ohio wasteland. Your next step now is to get to Highway Town, where you can continue the rest of the Burning Springs questline.
