ARC Raiders Player Brought to Tears After Player Interaction

By newsgame

The debate over whether ARC Raiders‘ community is truly non-toxic and friendly has been ongoing, as players continue to chime in with different takes regarding their personal experiences with the game. However, one player was recently brought to tears after an interaction they had with another Raider that led them to make the claim that ARC Raiders‘ community is “genuinely one of the best.” The player in question, Reddit user DashingMustashing, made a post to tell their story about some helpful Raiders they encountered during a rough round, inspiring some to share similar experiences of their own despite a bit of cynicism coming from others.

Lately, it seems the heat of ARC Raiders‘ PvP gameplay has been increasing, with players reporting more competitive interactions with other Raiders than when the game first launched. This has inadvertently led to a greater number of requests than ever before that the extraction shooter add a more casual PvE mode for those who want to experience the world of ARC Raiders without interference from other players—or, at the very least, an environment where multiple players might exist but PvP isn’t allowed. This, as well as requests for a bounty system that could potentially discourage players from behaving “unfairly,” have been hot topics as of late, all due to the competitive aspect of ARC Raiders‘ gameplay. Yet, players like DashingMustashing are finding that the game’s community can still surprise in heartfelt ways.

ARC Raiders’ Increasingly Complex Reputation for Player Behavior

ARC Raiders has an increasingly complex reputation when it comes to player behavior, with a lot of that likely originating from its popularity. Were the extraction shooter not as big of a hit as it ended up being, it presumably wouldn’t have attracted players who might have expected it to be something different from what it is. However, that popularity opened the door for players of varying playstyles and comforts to enter the scene—players who may not have been previously familiar with the extraction shooter formula nor the nuances of PvPvE gameplay.

Here are the key pain points reported by players in ARC Raiders’ PvP:

  • Extraction camping
  • Fake-friendly betrayals
  • Loot theft after assists

It’s not inherently the PvP side of ARC Raiders that hasn’t been sitting well with some players, though, but more so the methods other Raiders employ to participate in that aspect of its gameplay. Extraction campers, for example, have seemingly been a problem for the shooter, with reports of players lying in wait at extraction points and then eliminating any other players in their attempts to escape. Something else that has been frustrating for players is when other Raiders pretend to be friendly, only to turn on them and loot their hard-earned belongings.

What makes ARC Raiders‘ reputation for player behavior so complex is not that these experiences are objectively poor but that while some players do see them as negatives, others see them as a natural part of the formula and even essential to the experience. That side of the argument sees potentially dangerous player interactions as the game’s method for increasing the tension players feel while they’re roaming the surface in search of loot, even with the PvE machines that are already there. But that is precisely what makes interactions like DashingMustashing’s so special, because it could be argued that those experiences should be rare in a game like ARC Raiders.

If nothing else, stories like DashingMustashing’s serve as a reminder that the ARC Raiders community isn’t all PvP-oriented, and that some players simply want to help out if they can. According to the story, DashingMustashing went into a game with a full backpack, only to be killed rather quickly by someone who spawned nearby. Their second round then led them to a blueprint, one of the most valuable items in ARC Raiders, when they were downed soon after by someone who had crept up on them.

However, their next round saw them engaging in friendly small talk with another player named ASULA, during which DashingMustashing explained how horribly his previous rounds had gone. The friendly player wishes them luck and then goes on their way. Shortly thereafter, another friendly player helped out with a quest in ARC Raiders that DashingMustashing was trying to complete before disappearing “off into the wild.” DashingMustashing then traveled to a nearby extraction point, where they once again ran into ASULA, who drops a blueprint on the ground out of compassion for the player’s previous difficult rounds. According to DashingMustashing, they “felt myself tear up,” as they “couldn’t handle the generosity of the last 5 minutes.”

While some comments on the story in Reddit express doubt about whether something like this happened, others echo the love DashingMustashing has for ARC Raiders‘ community. They might only be a few stories among the complaints, but they are a sign that not everyone is out for blood in the extraction shooter phenomenon.
