Full Fire and Ice Exotic Mission Walkthrough
Upon starting the mission, you’ll want to follow the linear path until you reach Firebase Imperator. Inside, you’ll need to kill Val Cal’ric, Door Technician, who drops the Imperium Door Codes. Take this item to the console that opens the Blast Doors, and proceed inside, where you will enter the Courtyard and face a bunch of Taken enemies. Kill them, then enter the portal and pick up the Imbalanced Octant. You’ll find the way forward by climbing and entering the central pillar in this room.
Continue to proceed forward, where you can progress by hugging the wall until you reach the main doors. However, these doors are locked. Continue hugging the wall and heading forward, and take a left along the ledge. Once you’re at a dead end, look up and jump up the platforms to continue walking across the wall. Before the locked main doors, you can take a left to enter a cave.
From inside the cave, ignore the forward platform that disappears when you step on it, and immediately turn right to enter another room. At the back of this room, you can climb the rocks to the ceiling, where you can enter inside and follow through until you find a large drop that takes you further into the puzzle.
Once you reach the ground, you’ll have to go through gates while the floor collapses after you step on it, but there’s only one correct gate, as the others are illusions:
- Second gate on the right side
- First gate on the right side
- Third gate on the left wall of the right room
- First gate on the left side
- Second gate on the left side
After this segment, you’ll want to scale the debris on the walls and reach the top, where you’ll find a platform that will allow you to crouch walk back above the room you were just running from. Stick to the right path on the ceiling, and you’ll eventually find a hole in the wall. Enter this hole to find the next section of the puzzle, which is a room filled with Taken Hobgoblins.
Ignore these enemies and stick to the left, where you’ll be able to climb some rocks and then scale a large tower by entering inside. Inside the tower is an open window that allows you to access the platforms that will take you to the next segment. Follow these platforms, and you’ll find a Pyramid Node that you can interact with to open the way forward by using the Imbalanced Octant you found earlier.
Now, you’ll enter into a large room with 2 Black Blights on the left, and 2 White Blights on the right. The objective here is to fill each Blight with its corresponding color (Black Orbs in the Black Blights and White Orbs in the White Blights). The Blights must be balanced as you fill them, meaning you should put 2 Orbs in the corresponding Blights before filling them with a total of 4. In order to get the correct Blights, you will need to kill Cabal Centurions and Taken Centurions in a specific order:
- Black Orb: Kill a Taken Centurion, then another Taken Centurion / Kill a Cabal Centurion, then a Taken Centurion
- White Orb: Kill a Cabal Centurion, then another Cabal Centurion / Kill a Taken Centurion, then a Cabal Centurion
Once you’ve filled and balanced both the White Blights and the Black Blights, the enemies will despawn, and you can head to the center of the room to interact with the pillar and Calibrate Octant to Balance, which provides you with the Balanced Octant item. Now, a portal will open in the original room, so it’s time to head back.
With the Balanced Octant, interact with the Pyramid Node, and then re-enter the portal you just came from. This begins a small cutscene to show you how the world state is inverting. Entering the portal will take you to the boss fight against the Disciple of Harrow. This boss uses a Solar machine gun, and his first three phases are simple. Deal damage to him, then destroy his shield generators, and continue dealing damage until his final phase.
In the Disciple of Harrow’s final phase, he will become immune and summon two Black Blights that you will need to balance and fill with 4 Black Orbs each. To do so, you must kill one of the Cabal Centurions that spawn, then locate the Pyramid Node on a platform in the sky, and interact with it to spawn a Taken Centurion. Now, kill the Taken Centurion to drop the Black Orbs and throw them equally at the two Black Blights. Repeat this step with the Pyramid Node to fill the Black Blights and activate the final damage phase against the boss.
With the boss and his allies defeated, you will be teleported into a room where you can approach the central altar to Claim the Praxic Blade. If this is your first time, you’ll receive a drop with either a Blue or Green Dark Matter Crystal. Now, head on through the mission as normal. You can return to this Exotic Mission in Legendary Difficulty to collect Catalysts and obtain the Dark Matter Crystal that you didn’t get your first time around, but only after you beat the Renegades Campaign.
