It’s not often that Diablo 4 players want to avoid using specific skills, since most have their place in some kind of build. However, in Diablo 4 Season 11, the best Sorcerer builds are probably better off spending their skill points elsewhere as they make their way toward level 60. While these skills aren’t necessarily bad—far from it, in fact—the Sorcerer can access an even more powerful setup without them in Season 11.
While the overall power level of builds in Diablo 4 Season 11 will likely be lower without Chaos Armor and Chaos Perks, several builds can still thrive thanks to fantastic new Uniques this season. Spiritborn and Rogue are in position to be the best classes in Diablo 4 Season 11, but players shouldn’t sleep on the Sorcerer either. With the new Orsivane Unique Mace looks like a must-use weapon for several Sorcerer builds, but it requires players to avoid any Defensive Skills to get the most out of this Unique.
Diablo 4 Season 11 Sorcerers Should Keep Defensive Skills Off Their Action Bar
- Flame Shield
- Frost Nova
- Ice Armor
- Teleport
There are four Defensive Skills on the Sorcerer’s Skill Tree in Diablo 4, and most builds tend to incorporate at least one into their combat rotation. Since the Sorcerer tends to be one of Diablo 4‘s more frail classes, Defensive Skills are an important part of a build’s survivability. With the Orsivane, Diablo 4 Sorcerers can still access the benefits of these Defensive Skills’ Enchantments, but reap even greater rewards by keeping them off their Action Bar.
The Sorcerer’s New Orsivane Unique Mace Automatically Grants Defensive Skill Enchantments
-
Orsivane Unique Mace
- +133 Intelligence
- +457 Maximum Life
- +75.0% Non-Physical Damage
- +4 to Core Skills
- Unique Affix: For each Defensive Skill not on your Action Bar, you deal 20-40%[x] increased damage and gain its associated Enchantment Effect.
With a total of four Defensive Skills, Diablo 4 Sorcerers without any on their Action Bars can get a total of 160% damage increase with the Orsivane’s Unique Affix. Additionally, they can still access all four of these Defensive Skills’ Enchantment Effects as long as they keep them off the Action Bar. These Enchantment Skills include:
|
Defensive Skill |
Enchantment Effect |
|---|---|
|
Flame Shield |
Flame Shield automatically activates when you take fatal damage. Can only happen once every 120 seconds. |
|
Frost Nova |
Lucky Hit: Your Conjuration Skills have a 30% chance to unleash a Frost Nova when hitting enemies. |
|
Ice Armor |
Upon getting hit, you have a 5% chance to apply Ice Armor. |
|
Teleport |
Evade is replaced with a short-range Teleport on a 17.0 (14.0 at Rank 5) second Cooldown. |
These Sorcerer Builds Can Take Full Advantage of the Orsivane in Diablo 4 Season 11
- Ball Lightning Sorcerer
- Crackling Energy Sorcerer
- Ice Shards Sorcerer
Since the Orsivane is a One-Handed Mace, builds that utilize a one-handed weapon in the Sorcerer’s main hand and a Focus in their off hand will be the most successful. Ball Lightning Sorcerers are going to get the most out of using the Orsivane, as they can use the Unique Focus Okun’s Catalyst alongside it for an AoE Ball Lightning that surrounds the Sorcerer and damages nearby enemies. While Crackling Energy and Ice Shards Sorcerers don’t have quite as powerful synergy with the Orsivane, they can still use it effectively.
Typically, these builds need multiple Defensive Skills on the Action Bar to be effective. However, keeping them off the Action Bar in Season 11 increases the overall damage of the build and opens the door for more offensive skills to be used instead, giving the class even more of a damage bonus from the Sorcerer’s Elemental Synergies passive. Plus, having the Enchantment Effects of these skills at no cost makes up for not having their primary effects available on the Action Bar.
