Two More Games Are Leaving PS Plus on December 16
PlayStation Plus subscribers will have to bid farewell to 12 games on December 16, as the service has once again updated its ‘Last Chance to Play’ section with 2 more titles. While there’s every chance that even more games are added to the list in the coming days, it’s already shaping up to be a rough month for PlayStation Plus fans, as some heavy hitters will be leaving the service in exactly two weeks. From Battlefield 2042 and Grand Theft Auto 3 – The Definitive Edition to Sonic Frontiers and Forspoken, there’s sure to be at least one title being removed in December that will upset nearly every user.
With talk of upcoming AAA titles like Grand Theft Auto 6 possibly being priced as high as $100, services such as PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass are becoming increasingly appealing to the majority of gamers, even amid continued price increases. For those who might own a PS4 or PS5, PlayStation Plus has become an essential subscription for anybody looking to make the most out of their console. The service is broken down into three tiers: Essential, Extra, and Premium. The former of the bunch is priced at $9.99 USD per month and allows users to play premium titles online, receive new games each month, and more. While Extra and Premium, priced at $14.99 and $17.99 USD per month, respectively, come with even more benefits, such as a Game Catalog with a wealth of titles to play.

While subscribing to PS Plus Extra or Premium may seem appealing, the enticing Game Catalog does come with a catch, as not all titles stay on the service forever. Games are often removed each month, and while the number of removals varies, this month is seemingly going to be a big blow for subscribers. According to the ‘Last Chance to Play’ section on PS Plus, 12 games are now set to leave the service on December 16. This was originally 9 games as of mid to late November, but a recent update has now added Touhou Genso Rondo: Bullet Ballet, River City Melee Mach!!, and 11-11 Memories Retold to the list. With 12 games leaving PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium this month, it seems unlikely that any more will be added to the list, but it’s also not impossible.
The good news is that there are plenty of other games joining the service throughout the month, so it’s not all bad news. While only 3 Essential titles are usually given away to subscribers each month, PlayStation has decided to treat gamers for December 2025 with 5 new PS Plus games: Killing Floor 3, LEGO Horizon Adventures, Neon White, Synduality: Echo of Ada, and The Outlast Trials are available for subscribers to add to their library up until January 6. Those who add these games to their collection can play them forever, as long as they have an active PlayStation Plus subscription.
As if subscribers weren’t already being treated well enough with the addition of 5 new games, the iconic Red Dead Redemption has also joined PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium on December 2. Originally released in 2010 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Rockstar Games is bringing the beloved title into the modern age with native PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2 versions. The big upgrade comes with some much-needed graphical improvements, and can be played at no extra cost for those subscribed to either PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium. Sadly, unlike the monthly Essential titles, Red Dead Redemption won’t be available on the service forever, so players should check it out while they can.
