ARC Raiders Player Discovers Easy Way to Spot Enemies Hiding in Bushes
An ARC Raiders player has shared a handy trick with the game’s community that allows players to spot enemies hiding in bushes and large foliage, all by simply spamming the ping button. As of writing, it’s unclear if this is an intended gameplay feature or if it could be patched in a future ARC Raiders update. However, one thing’s for sure: the community appears to be divided on what this could mean for players simply trying to hide away while they wait for the extraction elevator to arrive.
This is now the second time in a month that foliage has become a big talking point among the game’s community, as players recently discovered that lowering the graphical settings of ARC Raiders on PC can offer a huge gameplay advantage. Although most won’t want to play this gorgeous game with every setting set to low, it does appear to remove most of the bushes and foliage on the map, which is a huge problem. This is a client-side change, which means one player could have their graphical settings maxed out and be hiding from an enemy in a bush, but if that enemy has their settings lowered, the foliage simply won’t exist for them, which means the player will be standing out in the open and can easily be spotted/eliminated. Fans have called for this issue to be addressed, but now there could be another problem on the community’s hands.
ARC Raiders Reveals Week 6 Trials Challenges
Developer Embark Studios releases a new set of Trials Challenges for Week 6 of its popular third-person extraction shooter, ARC Raiders.
ARC Raiders Players Can Ping Enemies Hiding In Bushes
Although it’s not quite as severe an exploit as completely removing foliage via lowered settings, one player has discovered that it’s possible to ping enemies hiding in bushes, thus revealing their location without actually being able to see them. It’s unclear if this is something Embark has intended to be in the game, but the player shows how simply spamming the ‘ping’ button at a location they expect an enemy to be hiding in will eventually mark them with a red indicator above their head. The ping system is an effective way for players to communicate with their teammates to call out where enemies are, but this is a slight abuse of that system to find other players who wouldn’t have otherwise been spotted.
Although it’s unclear as to whether or not this is an intended feature, it is an excellent way to deal with ARC Raiders‘ extraction campers. This is something many fans often complain about, as certain players will not play the game and loot as intended, and will instead head straight to an extraction point, let fellow players do the looting, and then jump them once they head to an extraction zone. But as players have now discovered that they can ping through bushes to locate enemies, this could make things a lot more difficult for those who want to sit and wait for unsuspecting players to wander by.
Players’ response to this discovery appears to be mixed, with some noting that it is a great method for spotting extraction campers, and others calling for it to be patched. Many players point out how the player in the clip appeared to shoot another player who wasn’t camping, but simply waiting for the extraction elevator to arrive. As many of the extraction points are in wide open spaces, hiding in bushes is the best way to ensure you don’t get taken out by an ARC or another enemy. While PvP is part of ARC Raiders, some believe it was unfair for the player to take out another player who was simply trying to leave.
As one of the year’s most popular live-service titles, players often encounter issues, glitches, bugs, and exploits such as this. Thankfully, Embark has been regularly releasing new ARC Raiders updates to combat any problems that arise as promptly as possible. The game’s most recent patch addressed a severe exploit that was allowing players to enter locked rooms without a key, making high-value loot up for grabs and ruining the experience for those attempting to play legitimately. Although it’s still possible for players to glitch their way into rooms, Embark has added new measures that will set them on fire if they enter without a key.
