Black Ops 7 Players Are Falling for a Fake Operator Skin Leak

By newsgame

Much of the Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 community has been trolled by a fake leak that falsely claims WWE wrestler and social media influencer Logan Paul will be added to the game as a playable Operator in the future. While data miners regularly uncover details regarding upcoming store bundles and Operator Skins for Call of Duty, one individual has gone viral for claiming that Black Ops 7 will soon be collaborating with Logan Paul, despite Activision’s statement that it intends to dial back on such cosmetic items following intense backlash during Black Ops 6‘s life cycle.

Last week, a Twitter user by the name of Velix claimed that Logan Paul, once one of YouTube’s biggest names, now a professional WWE wrestler and co-founder of the Prime beverage company, would be coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 as a playable Operator, according to new datamined game files. Although the user stated that “nothing is confirmed,” they claimed that files from the shooter include assets for new voice lines, cosmetic items, and an entire Operator Skin based on the controversial celebrity. Although the user in question has little to no following on the platform, their post gained widespread traction across the game’s community, accumulating hundreds of thousands of views. However, their inaccurate information was quickly shut down by more reliable sources.

Call of Duty: What’s the Difference Between Black Ops 6 And Black Ops 7?

For those unsure of what Call of Duty: Black Ops game to pick up on Black Friday, there’s a clear best option, and the answer may surprise you.

Black Ops 7’s Logan Paul Operator Leak Is Fake

As the supposed leak continued to gain traction on social media, it caught the attention of reliable leakers such as Reality and HeyImAlaix, both of whom have been trusted by the Call of Duty community for their accurate data mines for many years now. The former of the two, who previously leaked the removal of two Modern Warfare games from Call of Duty HQ, called the post “bait,” while Alaix simply replied with “no” when asked by a player if the leak was legitimate. Given that the original poster has no proven track record, provided no source for the claimed leak, and was promptly shut down by two trusted data miners, it’s fair to say that this rumor is entirely inaccurate and that Logan Paul will not be coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.

Although Activision has worked with countless celebrities in the past, any such collaborations for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 are highly unlikely. Earlier this year, developer Treyarch Studios said it had rejected some big-brand collaborations for this year’s entry in the series, likely due to the overwhelming community feedback during the life cycle of Black Ops 6. This came after the two studios said they heard fans loud and clear and that Black Ops 7 will aim for a more authentic Call of Duty experience, rather than the nonstop collaborations and unrealistic cosmetic items seen in its predecessor.

If the fake Logan Paul leak ever turned out to be legitimate, it would likely be a surefire way to divide the community yet again. Unrealistic Operator Skins and cosmetic items have been a huge talking point for Call of Duty players, especially over the last 12 months. While a large portion of players are against collaborations and crazy skins, others were massively upset when Activision announced the cancellation of Carry Forward for Black Ops 7 earlier this year, calling it an anti-consumer decision. Although the publisher walked back the feature in order to keep this year’s title more authentic and realistic to its own theme, preventing the likes of the Squid Game and American Dad skins from being transferred from Black Ops 6, plenty of players were unhappy that the skins will now solely be tied to last year’s shooter and the free-to-play Battle Royale title, Warzone.

If Activision and Treyarch hadn’t already made it clear that they are ditching the big-brand collaborations this year, a Logan Paul Operator Skin wouldn’t even be that surprising, given the series’ track record with celebrity cosmetics. Even before things got out of control with Black Ops 6, the Modern Warfare series had already introduced Nicki Minaj and Snoop Dogg, while even earlier entries have seen the likes of John Malkovich, Bill Paxton, and Jon Bernthal appear as playable Operators in the game’s Zombies mode.
