A Controversial Black Ops 6 Map Might Be Coming to Black Ops 7

By newsgame

A trusted data miner has discovered new evidence that suggests Stakeout, a controversial Multiplayer map from Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, could be returning at some point during the life cycle of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. Developer Treyarch Studios has yet to confirm if it intends to bring any maps back from last year’s entry for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. But, despite the fact that the map was massively controversial, a large portion of the community enjoyed Stakeout’s fast-paced antics, so its return likely wouldn’t come as much of a surprise to most.

Stakeout was one of Black Ops 6‘s 16 Multiplayer maps available at launch last year, but it quickly became a divisive favorite among the game’s community, being loved by some and despised by others. The map often received its very own Stakeout 24/7 playlist option, allowing players to jump into the map on a variety of different modes and play it non-stop. Due to its small, tightly packed three-lane design, it made for some of the fastest-paced action available in the game, allowing players to rack up tons of eliminations (as well as plenty of deaths).

Black Ops 7 Leak Suggests Stakeout Is Returning

As the map quickly became a fan-favorite for many Black Ops 6 players, it will come as no surprise to learn that a new data mine from leaker Reality has claimed Stakeout could be returning for the latest entry in the series, Black Ops 7. Reality, who retrieves unannounced information about Call of Duty from the in-game files, has claimed that Stakeout is currently listed as a Black Ops 7 map, suggesting it will likely be making a comeback at some point in the game’s life cycle. As Treyarch has already pulled back the curtain on the game’s big Season 1 update, it seems unlikely that it will arrive with the first major content update this month. But, with that being said, the studio could be planning to surprise players and shadow-drop the map at some point during the season.

There’s also the possibility that this leak never comes to fruition, as data-mined information can always change before an official reveal. However, for those who are unfamiliar with Reality, the leaker has become a trusted data miner in the Call of Duty community, regularly informing players of what’s to come before big announcements. Earlier this year, for example, the data miner was the first to leak that the Call of Duty HQ app would be undergoing a major change and removing both 2022’s Modern Warfare 2 and 2023’s Modern Warfare 3 from the launcher. This was then confirmed by Activision just a few weeks later.

Although much of the community adored Stakeout, a large portion of players also despised it, with some even claiming that it would “ruin Black Ops 7” if it returned. The reason for this is that the map was considered a cheap and easy way for players to rack up tons of kills and quickly unlock numerous weapon camos. Fans often criticized the lack of skill that was required to play the map, as it was often filled with spawn kills and overpowered weapons, such as shotguns or light machine guns.

If Stakeout returns, it will be a drastic change from what players are used to with the current selection of maps in Black Ops 7. While fans are loving Treyarch’s return to form in the game’s map designs, there aren’t currently any maps that compare to Stakeout for chaotic, fast-paced action. The studio recently brought back Nuketown, an iconic map that has been seen in the majority of Black Ops entries. While it also has a small design and three-lane system, it still fails to replicate the madness that is Stakeout.
