How to Unlock Weapon Martial Arts in Where Winds Meet

While some martial arts in Where Winds Meet unlock automatically, most require you to either steal them from hidden masters or join special Sects.

Performing Skill Theft

Most Weapon Martial Arts are locked behind stealth infiltration quests called Skill Theft. To prepare for this, you need to unlock two special Mystic Arts: Touch of Death and Veil of Stillness. Additionally, some Sanctums are locked behind doors that require Dragon Keys.

Performing Skill Theft is simple: you infiltrate a martial sanctum, sneak past guards, observe the master, and press the interact key when a gold ring appears. Once the progress bar fills, the style is yours.

Joining a Sect

Every weapon belongs to a corresponding sect, and by pledging loyalty to that sect, you automatically unlock their signature martial art. You can leave a sect at any time, although you’ll need to survive the Perception Forest escape challenge first. After you leave a sect, you can always join another.

How to Unlock All Weapon Martial Arts in Where Winds Meet

At the time of writing, Where Winds Meet has twelve weapon martial arts. Each one has its own distinct path to unlock.

Nameless Sword

The Nameless Sword is your default sword martial art and is unlocked automatically at the start of the game. It’s a fast, clean melee style that focuses on quick slashes and mobility. There’s nothing special you need to do to unlock it, and the best part is, you start the game already knowing it.

Nameless Spear

Just like the Nameless Sword, the Nameless Spear is another martial art you automatically unlock early on. It focuses on agile movements and precise thrusts and is perfect for quickly dealing damage while avoiding enemy attacks.

The Nameless Sword and Nameless Spear combo act as the baseline for all your early encounters.

Panacea Fan

Panacea Fan is the best early-game healer style, and excellent for co-op or for players who struggle with survivability. Its skills can heal allies in an area, restore your own health, or help you stay alive during difficult early battles.

There are two ways to unlock it:

• Choose it from Qi Sheng after submitting your first Oddity. This is highly recommended, because health items are limited early on.
• Join the Silver Needle Sect, which also teaches this martial art.

Thundercry Blade

Thundercry Blade is a slow, heavy-hitting sword style designed for players who want massive damage and strong defense. It can generate a shield equal to 25% of your max HP and draw enemies close before unleashing a devastating AOE attack.

You can get it in three ways:

• Choose it from Qi Sheng early on.
• Infiltrate the Well of Heaven Martial Camp in Moonveil Mountains (part of Kaifeng progression).
• Join the Well of Heaven Sect to unlock it instantly.

Infernal Twinblades

Infernal Twinblades is perfect for aggressive players who love fast-paced melee combat. Its unique Karmic Flame meter charges with each attack and boosts your critical damage when full.

There are three ways to unlock it:

• Choose it from Qi Sheng when submitting your first Oddity.
• Steal it from the Midnight Mercy Sanctum in Qinghe.
• Join the Midnight Blades Sect, which teaches it automatically.

Stormbreaker Spear

One of the best early weapon unlocks is the Stormbreaker Spear. This martial art specializes in taunting enemies, absorbing damage, and controlling crowds. It lets you take hits and stand your ground like a tank.

There are two ways to get it:

• If you prefer the stealth method, infiltrate the Silver Needle Sanctum and observe the master there.
• Join the Raging Tides Sect as this automatically unlocks the Stormbreaker Spear.

Strategic Sword

The Strategic Sword has a more tactical, bleed-focused style compared to the Nameless Sword. The easiest way to unlock it is through Skill Theft.

You have to infiltrate the Lone Cloud Sanctum near Encircling Lake in southern Qinghe. Once inside, watch the master perform the technique and press the observation key when the gold ring appears. When you’ve observed enough moves, you’ll unlock the martial art. This can also be unlocked instantly by joining the Lone Cloud Sect.

Heavenquaker Spear

This spear style is more aggressive and visually dramatic. It uses sweeping spin attacks and bleed effects. To unlock Heavenquaker Spear, you need to infiltrate the Raging Tides Sanctum. The master here performs long-reaching spear combos that you must observe to complete the Skill Theft.

If you’d rather not infiltrate, you can unlock the art instantly by joining the Raging Tides Sect, which also specializes in spear techniques.

Soulshade Umbrella

Soulshade Umbrella is an elegant support weapon that provides automated healing turrets and homing healing abilities. It’s extremely useful during co-op encounters and late-game survival.

To unlock it, travel to a small village west of Mistveil Forest in Kaifeng. On the upper floor of a building with an open entrance, you’ll find a path leading downstairs to a hidden ladder. An umbrella master waits below, ready for Skill Theft. You can also unlock it by joining the Hollow Vale Sect.

Vernal Umbrella

Vernal Umbrella is a ranged offensive umbrella that lets you immobilize enemies, summon a floating turret, and freely swap weapons to chain combos. It’s a stylish martial art with great crowd control.

If you don’t select it from Qi Sheng early, you can unlock it in the Temporal Pavilion / Time Tower in Kaifeng. This one is unique because instead of stealthing in, you must complete a small investigation quest.

You need to gather five clues from various NPCs, including a tabby cat, two pairs of women, and a warehouse guard. The correct deductions lead you to the warehouse key, which grants access to the banquet room containing the martial art. You can also unlock it by joining the Velvet Shade Sect.

Inkwell Fan

The Inkwell Fan is a ranged DPS style that lets you blast wind at enemies and juggle them in the air. It pairs well with umbrella martial arts because both share ranged playstyles.

You can unlock it by infiltrating the Inkwell Fan Sanctum located in the Floral Expanse Beyond, northern Qinghe. The area is peaceful at first, but once inside the sanctum, stealth will be required. Alternatively, you can join the Silver Needle Sect to unlock it instantly.

Mortal Rope Dart

The Mortal Rope Dart lets you pull enemies toward you, fling yourself at bosses, and even summon rats using a special resource.

To unlock it, you must infiltrate the Nine Mortal Ways Martial Hall in Kaifeng City. A guard blocks the front entrance, but a mysterious elder demonstrates how to infiltrate using disguises. After speaking to Wuyan at Lin’s Cosmetics, you learn how to craft disguises by completing her request. Once inside, steal the rope dart martial art.

You can also unlock it by joining the Nine Mortal Ways Sect.
