Black Ops 7 Zombies Could Be Bringing Back Two Iconic Maps
A new rumor has suggested that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7‘s Zombies game mode is going to bring back two iconic maps. If correct, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 fans will be happy to see these maps return for the Zombies game mode, but it seems that one could be set to receive more changes than the other.
Both Alpha Omega and Nuketown Zombies are twists on the legendary Nuketown multiplayer map. Where Nuketown Zombies is smaller scale, Alpha Omega is a much more expanded version. Alpha Omega was first introduced as DLC for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 back in 2019, and was the second-to-last map of the ongoing Aether Story. As always, it featured an extensive Easter egg called Electromagnetic Awakening Party, and featured one of the best boss fights in Call of Duty: Zombies in the Avogadro. But to this day, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 remains Alpha Omega’s only appearance in the series. Nuketown Zombies arrived in Black Ops 2, and like Alpha Omega, has yet to reappear.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Has a Zombies Camo Most Players Will Never Get
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 takes camo hunting to a new level, as in addition to prestige unlocks, there’s something for hardcore Zombies fans to chase.
Alpha Omega and Nuketown Could Be Returning For Black Ops 7 Zombies
According to popular Call of Duty leaker TheGhostOfHope on X, this could all be about to change. The leaker claims that Black Ops 7‘s post-launch plans include a full Alpha Omega remake, which would be released as a round-based map. This would give Treyarch an opportunity to change the original and adapt it more towards Black Ops 7‘s mechanics. That’s not all. TheGhostOfHope also says that Nuketown Zombies is making a return for the first time in years, with that planned to be a Survival map. Sadly, the leaker doesn’t offer any insight as to when these iconic maps will return, besides it being included in the post-launch content.
The big thing to note here is that TheGhostOfHope differentiates between a remake and a remaster for these Call of Duty: Zombies maps. As Alpha Omega is the more extensive map, Treyarch must feel as though it has more opportunities to improve upon the original, and instead is choosing to opt for a full remake. But with Nuketown Zombies, it’s not exactly a map that needs to change all that much. Nor could it, given its much smaller scale. It will be interesting to see whether Nuketown Zombies uses the visual style of the newest version of Nuketown featured in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, or whether it takes it back to that of the original version.
In terms of potential additions, Nuketown Zombies being released over a decade ago now makes it ripe for improvement. The 2012 version of the map only featured the original four Perk-a-Cola machines, a system that has since been expanded upon massively. There’s also the potential for a new Easter egg – the original Nuketown Zombies didn’t feature a typical Call of Duty: Zombies Easter egg as players know them today. Remember, though, this is merely speculation, as the maps’ return is still just a rumor at this point. It’s worth waiting to see whether Treyarch reveals these maps coming back to Call of Duty: Zombies over the next few months.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Season 1 launches on December 4, and it has a ton of exciting content in store for Zombies fans. The biggest addition is a new round-based map titled Astra Malorum, which will arrive alongside a new Wonder Weapon called the LGM-1 and a new enemy named O.S.C.A.R. There are also two new Survival maps on the way called Zarya Cosmodrome and Exit 115, so even if this Alpha Omega and Nuketown Zombies rumor doesn’t come to fruition, players are safe in the knowledge there’s still plenty of new stuff in the works.
