How to Complete The Promised Light Quest in Where Winds Meet

By newsgame

The Promised Light is one of Qinghe’s more involved side quests in Where Winds Meet. It appears near the end of the Jianghu Legacy question, and you can only unlock it after earning 6,000 Qinghe Exploration Points. Once you meet the requirement, travel to Sundara Land in Qinghe and speak with the Wayfarer there. This will trigger the quest and add it to the Jianghu Legacy section in your Exploration menu.

To Start The Promised Light Quest in Where Winds Meet, head to Buddha’s Light Pagoda and make your way to the very top. Here, you’ll need to place the completed Light Jade on the pedestal to unlock the entryway.

Soar through the skies like a true Wuxia martial arts master in Where Winds Meet by meeting these requirements.

Where to Get Buddha’s Light Jade: Yin and Yang

The Buddha’s Light Jade you need to place in Halo Peak’s Buddha’s Light Pagoda isn’t one item. It’s actually made from two separate halves: Buddha’s Light Jade: Yin and Buddha’s Light Jade: Yang. You can’t climb the pagoda or activate the pedestal without assembling both parts first.

Buddha’s Light Jade: Yang

Location: Palace of Annals

The Yang half is earned by completing the Palace of Annals campaign. This dungeon is part of the main story progression and unlocks naturally. Inside the dungeon in Where Winds Meet, you’ll have to face a series of enemies and eventually the final boss. Once you defeat the last boss, the game rewards you with Buddha’s Light Jade: Yang as a campaign completion item.

Buddha’s Light Jade: Yin

Location: Bodhi Sea

The Yin half comes from finishing the Bodhi Sea campaign. Just like Palace of Annals, this is a story chapter you unlock during the main progression. After entering Bodhi Sea, follow the quests, fight through the mobs, and defeat the main boss at the end of the chapter. Once the boss falls, you’ll be rewarded with Buddha’s Light Jade: Yin.

Once the doors to the pagoda open, step inside and pull the nearby lever. This lowers a hatch that leads deeper into the pagoda. Drop through to find a Buddha statue holding a mirror. Activate Meridian Touch and rotate the mirror until its beam hits the opening on the right side. When the beam locks into place, the next passage will become accessible.

You can only place the Light Jade on the pedestal during the Wu Hour, so keep that timing in mind. If there’s still a long wait, you can manually change the in-game time to speed things up.

Bronze Mirror Contraption Puzzle

Mirror Puzzle in Where Winds Meet

This next chamber is where players often get confused. A bunch of Buddha statues around the room hold bronze mirrors, and your job is to guide a single beam of light through them until it reaches the mechanism that opens the far door.

Before you manipulate any statue, make sure Meridian Touch is active.

To solve this puzzle in Where Winds Meet, start with the central statue. Rotate it until the beam shifts toward the left side of the room. The beam will begin bouncing between statues, forming a looping pattern along the edges. Follow the beam’s path and adjust the statues gradually as needed.

Once you reach the upper right corner, you’ll notice a toppled statue next to a standing one. Ignore the urge to complete the loop and turn the standing statue so the light escapes through the hallway leading outward. This breaks the cycle and sends the beam toward the exit.

In the corridor, adjust the final mirror, so the beam hits the door panel. When the frame glows, the way ahead unlocks.

Cavern Drop and First Battle

Move into the next area and approach the Buddha statue inside. Walk behind it and crawl under the fallen stone slab ahead. The floor will suddenly give way, dropping you into a lower section. Climb back up and investigae the seated corpse nearby. This triggers a fight with Mechanical Puppets.

When you’re done with the Puppets, you’ll be rewarded with a key that opens the nearby door. To the right is a small cave containing a chest you can reach by hopping over some barrels. The left path continues the quest. You’ll see another group of Puppets blocking the stairway. Just defeat them, climb up, and push through the door above.

Corridor in Where Winds Meet

A cutscene plays as you enter the next corridor. Crawl under the fallen pillar ahead, follow the passage into a wider space, and look to your left. Drop to grab a hidden chest. From there, make another jump to a lower ledge that leads deeper into the ruins.

Rope Bridges and the Last Descent

Continue forward until you reach a series of rope bridges. They sway lightly as you cross, so move carefully. After the final bridge, drop down to the platform below to trigger another cutscene.

As soon as it ends, the ground begins to collapse beneath you. Run forward quickly, watch for the on-screen prompts, and be ready for a chain of short drops. You’ll tumble through several levels before landing safely in a stable cavern. Here, you’ll unlock a new teleport point: Thousand-Buddha Cavern.

A Buddha statue waits ahead, also holding a mirror. Rotate it, so the beam hits the sealed stone door. The barrier will break open, revealing the way into the Buddha Grotto, where you’ll face Miaoshan, also known as Tian Ying.

How to Beat Miaoshan in The Promised Light Quest

In the opening phase of this boss fight, Miaoshan relies on deliberate, readable swings. Watch the glow on his weapon: when it brightens, that’s your cue to parry. Well-timed parries drain his stamina quickly and create openings to strike. Take your time and only step in after he commits to an attack.

During the second phase, Miaoshan becomes more aggressive, chaining multiple hits together. Pay attention to his footwork and the colored flashes that indicate stronger abilities. Stick to the same strategy: parry consistently, wait for him to overextend, and punish him during recovery. Once his stamina breaks, finish the fight.

During the third phase, Tian Ying becomes far more aggressive. Like previously, you need to rely heavily on dodging and deflecting its attacks. The cleaner your dodges, the better your chances of surviving the final stretch. The boss also summons minions during this phase, but you just need to dodge the main boss as soon as he appears.

After defeating Miaoshan, swim through the underwater tunnel nearby to complete the quest.
