Lucky Panel Tips in Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined
Versions, Ranks, & Chests
Lucky Panel is a straightforward memory game that requires players to select matching sets of cards after they have been flipped face down and scrambled. There are three versions of this mini-game, which are made available at different points in the game, and the rewards that can be won improve as the versions advance. This is when each version is made available:
- Version 1: Available the first time you visit Pilgrim’s Rest in (Past) Alltrades Abbey Region. This version is always available in the past.
- Version 2: Available after completing the Alltrades Abbey arc and visiting Pilgrim’s Rest in (Present) Alltrades Abbey Region. This version is ultimately replaced by Version 3.
- Version 3: Available in (Present) Alltrades Abbey Region after summoning the four Spirits.
The first two versions of Lucky Panel feature three possible rounds. At the end of each round, players can choose to sacrifice the items that they have already earned in order to advance to the next round. As players advance, the rank, which is represented by the diamonds at the bottom of the cards, of the Round 1 cards will improve, and some additional cards will be added to the board. If a card reaches Rank 3 before Round 3, those cards will be marked with keys when advancing to that final round. Matching those key cards will open treasure chests with special rewards.
A fourth round is added in Version 3. Getting a card to Rank 4 before Round 4 will cause the cards to be marked with keys that open treasure chests when advancing to the final round.
Special Cards
There are three special cards that players should be aware of:
- Gold Star: Picking the Gold Star card before picking all the matches awards one additional pick.
- Purple Imp: Picking the Purple Imp card will scramble all the cards.
- Metal Slime: Purple Imp cards will occasionally appear as Metal Slime cards. Picking a Metal Slime card before picking all the matches will raise the rank of a card by two ranks when advancing to the next round.
Strategy
The easiest way to consistently win at Lucky Panel is to take a screenshot of the initial board before any scrambling occurs. Players can then take screenshots of each scramble and use those images to inform their picks.
Players can also use these strategies when targeting specific rewards:
- When targeting a chest reward in Version 2, quit after starting Round 2 if there are no Rank 3 cards on the board.
- When targeting a chest reward in Version 3, quit after starting Round 3 if there are no Rank 4 cards on the board.
- Unless you are looking for the Cottontail Costume, use Version 3 when trying to earn Lucky Panel exclusives.
You can only play three games of Lucky Panel per day. Rest at the Inn in Pilgrim’s Rest to advance to the next day.
