Thousands of ARC Raiders Players Petition for a New Item With Big PvP Implications

By newsgame

Over 6,000 ARC Raiders players have voiced their support for adding usable handcuffs to the extraction shooter. ARC Raiders is one of 2025’s biggest success stories, with millions of players flocking to the game since its late October launch. The social moments born out of the game’s PvPvE format have elevated it to even greater heights, and so it’s really no surprise that ARC Raiders has been nominated for Best Multiplayer Game at The Game Awards 2025.

The jury is still out on whether ARC Raiders will take home the Best Multiplayer prize at The Game Awards, but there’s certainly a case to be made. Even if ARC Raiders falls short at The Game Awards this year, it doesn’t close the door on the game potentially winning awards at future events. ARC Raiders is a live-service game, after all, and so it will potentially be eligible for awards like Best Ongoing Game and Best Community Support at future TGAs.

ARC Raiders Giving Away 500 Free Tokens to Some Players

After a difficult first weekend, ARC Raiders developer Embark Studios is issuing a fairly generous consolation prize to some players.

The longevity of ARC Raiders will largely boil down to whether Embark Studios is able to keep the game updated with compelling content or not. The studio is off to a strong start, with the Stella Montis update adding a brand-new map with a heavy PvP focus to the game. More ARC Raiders updates are planned for the near future, with the big Cold Snap update set to add the Flickering Flames event and more. While fans wait for more information on future ARC Raiders updates, they have voiced their opinion on what they think the game should add, with thousands rallying behind a Reddit post calling for usable handcuffs in the game.

ARC Raiders Petition Calls for Handcuffs

ARC Raiders handcuffs are primarily recycled for crafting materials, netting players Metal Parts in the process. However, Reddit user DwayneRavenTTV recently started an “official petition” calling for handcuffs to be usable in the game. The idea would be that ARC Raiders players would be able to handcuff other players they find in the game world, whether that be simply cuffing their hands together behind their back so they can’t use their weapons or handcuffing them to objects in the game world, potentially leaving them to die at the hands of the ARC robots or the end-of-match cataclysm.

Some think handcuffs could be a great way to retaliate against ARC Raiders players that trick others into false alliances. Part of the fun of ARC Raiders is interacting with other players, which sometimes means friendly cooperation and other times means brutal PvP encounters. There are ARC Raiders that like to trick people by spamming the “Don’t shoot!” emote or otherwise pretending to be friendly, only to wind up turning on their new companions to kill them and steal their loot. In regard to the handcuffs, the Reddit user said, “Time to make these hey don’t shoot people learn a valuable lesson.”

It’s an idea with a lot of potential and could add another intriguing layer to the ARC Raiders PvP experience. It’s unclear if it’s an idea Embark is interested in, but the studio has shown a willingness to listen to the community. It didn’t take long after ARC Raiders players called for a Duos mode for it to be implemented in the game, and so it will be interesting to see if usable handcuffs are ever added. In the meantime, it will be very exciting to see what official updates Embark has planned for ARC Raiders in the months ahead.
