ARC Raiders Players Are Bursting Into Flames
ARC Raiders players are busting into flames following the game’s latest update, which was released today, November 27. Developer Embark Studios deployed patch 1.4.0 for ARC Raiders in the early hours of this morning, featuring a handful of fixes, improvements, and one massive change that should hopefully stop players from attempting to gain access to locked locations via illegitimate means. The update is available across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, but players should be warned that this is quite the “hot” fix.
As an extraction shooter, ARC Raiders is all about looting the best weapons, items, and gear available. Whether it’s from other Raiders, ARC enemies, or high-value loot locations, players are constantly battling to get their hands on Epic and Legendary items. One of the best ways for players to accomplish this is by obtaining keys that grant access to locked locations around the map. However, these keys can be rather tricky to come by, which is why some have been exploiting glitches in the game to access them without a key. Over the last few weeks, numerous different methods have been discovered, but the most popular way was by running straight into the locked door while another player pushes you from behind, which will then phase the first player through the door and into the locked room, where they can then unlock it from the other side.

ARC Raiders Fixes Locked Door Glitch With a Fiery Solution
It may have taken Embark longer than fans would have liked, but the studio has finally addressed the problem with a rather hilarious solution. According to the patch notes for the new ARC Raiders update, Embark has added exploit mitigation mechanisms for all locked rooms across all maps. The studio didn’t divulge any further details in the change log, but the community quickly found out that although the exploit is still possible, glitching into a locked room without a key will immediately set off numerous flame throwers that are now placed inside. Players aren’t able to get back out of the room once they’ve glitched their way in, so it means they can do nothing but stand there and meet their fiery demise.
As a team of veteran developers consisting of ex-DICE employees, there’s no doubt that Embark Studios likely could have found a way to stop players from glitching through the door, but fans are pointing out why this is a far better alternative. In response to the above post, one user noted how players who access locked rooms with a key now have the chance to get even more loot, as there will be the bodies of those who attempted the exploit still in the room. Not only does this punish players who glitch by making them lose their stuff, but it also rewards those who use a key to access the room legitimately. “I like this better than fixing the glitch,” one user said, while another pointed out how the community would likely just find another way to phase through the door, so this is a solution that will be evergreen.
The change means that players will now need to find keycards if they want to gain access to the various locked rooms around Dam Battlegrounds, Buried City, Spaceport, Blue Gate, and Stella Montis. Depending on the exact room, obtaining keycards in ARC Raiders can be relatively difficult. Each room will have loot for players to obtain, but some rooms, such as the Control Tower in Dam Battlegrounds, are substantially more valuable. Although obtaining a key is completely random, players often have luck searching in draws, containers, and supply drops.
Outside of setting players on fire, the most recent update also addresses some other issues players have been having with ARC Raiders. Another prominent exploit fixed by patch 1.4.0 was the Il Toro glitch, which allowed players to fire the shotgun much faster than intended. As one of the best weapons in ARC Raiders, the Il Toro shotgun can take down opponents in just 2 to 3 shots, depending on the Shield. However, to balance the weapon being so powerful, players must wait between each shot before they can fire again. But prior to today’s update, players had discovered that switching from the weapon to a Quick Use item and then back to the weapon allowed them to fire it incredibly fast. Thankfully, Embark has also fixed this issue.
