Dead by Daylight Announces Second Stranger Things Crossover
Dead by Daylight developer Behaviour Interactive has just confirmed that another Stranger Things DLC Chapter is heading to the asymmetrical multiplayer horror game soon. This announcement welcomes Stranger Things into a very exclusive club, with it being the only IP other than Resident Evil to collaborate with Dead by Daylight for a second time.
The first Dead by Daylight x Stranger Things DLC Chapter originally launched back in September 2019, though it was removed from the game just two years later due to the license expiring. This initial wave of Stranger Things content was brought back to Dead by Daylight in November 2023, and it remains accessible today.
For $11.99, or 1,500 Auric Cells, Dead by Daylight players get access to two Stranger Things-themed Survivors, Steve Harrington and Nancy Wheeler, as well as one Killer, The Demogorgon. While Nancy’s Survivor Perks revolve around increasing teammate awareness, Steve’s focus on helping himself and others while on the hook and just off it. The Demogorgon’s main Killer Power lets them create portals and teleport across the map via the Upside Down.
Stranger Things’ Vecna Is Coming to Dead by Daylight
On November 27, Dead by Daylight‘s official X account posted a short 20-second teaser confirming that a second Stranger Things DLC Chapter is heading to the game. This announcement coincides with Stranger Things Season 5’s release on Netflix, with the final season’s first four episodes hitting the subscription service on November 26 in the US.
Though the Dead by Daylight Stranger Things crossover teaser is short, it does seemingly confirm that Stranger Things villain Vecna will be the focal point of the DLC, likely being a new playable Killer. It’ll be interesting to see how Stranger Things‘ Vecna differs from the Dungeons and Dragons version (who the Stranger Things character is based on) who came to Dead by Daylight in June 2024 as part of its Dungeons and Dragons crossover Chapter. It’s possible that Stranger Things‘ Vecna will stand out by focusing more on the villain’s telepathy and mind control abilities than the Dungeons and Dragons‘ version’s magic-based powers.
If the upcoming Dead by Daylight x Stranger Things Chapter 2 follows in the footsteps of the original 2019 crossover, then fans might also see two Survivors come alongside Vecna. Jim Hoppper and Joyce Byers are the most likely candidates to become Dead by Daylight Survivors, with the core cast of kids likely being too young (at least in-universe) to be the subject of such a brutal and bloody horror game. The first Stranger Things Dead by Daylight crossover also added a map inspired by the Hawkins underground laboratory, so it’s possible this upcoming Chapter could add a new map too, perhaps taking inspiration from an iconic Stranger Things location like the Creel House or Vecna’s Upside Down hideout.
The second Dead by Daylight Stranger Things crossover is slated for release in January 2026, which should coincide nicely with the Stranger Things Season 5 finale at the start of the year. With a January 2026 release window, it’s possible that fans could see more from the DLC at The Game Awards 2025. Dead by Daylight has a lengthy history with the Geoff Keighley-hosted annual show, with the ‘Darkness Among Us’ Chapter having been revealed at the 2018 Game Awards and The Casting of Frank Stone having been announced during the 2023 ceremony
Dead by Daylight‘s January 2026 Chapter has been the focal point of much speculation over the last few weeks. While some leakers suggested that a second Stranger Things collaboration was on the way, others claimed that a third Resident Evil Chapter could be coming, or perhaps a Predator crossover.
