Overwatch 2 Fans Can Get Amazing New Skin, But There’s a Catch

By newsgame

Overwatch 2 fans can get an amazing Xal’atath Symmetra skin and its matching cosmetics for free, but only if they own World of Warcraft: Midnight. Simply by completing a short intro quest for Housing once it goes live in World of Warcraft Patch 11.2.7, fans can score a bunch of free stuff in Overwatch 2, as well as Hearthstone, StarCraft 2, and Diablo Immortal.

Housing has nearly arrived in World of Warcraft. Though the full feature is set to arrive in Midnight, players who have pre-purchased the expansion can enjoy most parts of the Housing system in early access, which arrives with World of Warcraft Patch 11.2.7 on December 2.

Overwatch 2 Might Have Just Teased a New Fan-Favorite Hero

A new detail discovered in Overwatch 2 could be a huge teaser for a brand-new hero players have wanted to see added to the game for almost a decade.

However, fans of Overwatch 2 might want to get excited about Midnight as well. Blizzard just revealed a slew of new rewards that players will earn for completing the Housing intro quest once the World of Warcraft update arrives. Overwatch 2 fans in particular get a bunch of amazing items, including the Xal’atath Symmetra skin, matching Spray and Name Card, and a Dark Heart Player Icon. That said, there is a catch: fans must pre-purchase World of Warcraft: Midnight in order to start this quest and obtain the “Welcome Home” achievement required to obtain these items.

Doing so will unlock rewards for several other Blizzard games as well. The Hearth & Home Card Back for Hearthstone, Horde and Alliance console skins for StarCraft 2, and a Sin’dorei portrait for Diablo Immortal are also earned along with this achievement. Separately, Hearthstone is also adding a WoW Housing-themed Epic card, which players will be able to obtain via an event inside the CCG.

How to Get Free WoW Rewards in Overwatch 2, Hearthstone, StarCraft 2, and Diablo Immortal

  • Make a World of Warcraft account
  • Pre-purchase Midnight, as well as World of Warcraft subscription time
  • On December 2 or later, complete the Housing introduction questline and move into a neighborhood to earn the “Welcome Home” achievement
  • Doing so will automatically unlock the following rewards:

    • Overwatch 2

      • Xal’atath Symmetra Legendary Skin
      • Xal’atath Symmetra Spray
      • Xal’atath Symmetra Name Card
      • Dark Heart Player Icon
    • Hearthstone

    • StarCraft 2

      • Horde- and Alliance-themed console skins
    • Diablo Immortal

Xal’atath Symmetra is a slightly-modified recolor of the Tyrande and Sin’dorei Symmetra skins. The former was the first, and was given to fans who purchased a physical or digital ticket to BlizzCon back in 2019, alongside Illidan Genji. The latter was a Blood Elf-themed recolor that came to the shop for 1900 Overwatch Coins, but can only occasionally be found in the shop or pulled from Loot Boxes. This makes Xal’atath Symmetra the easiest one to get by far, though it is only cheaper for Overwatch 2 players who were already planning on getting Midnight.

This new skin joins the roster of other Overwatch 2 x World of Warcraft cosmetics already in the game. Blackhand Doomfist and Magni Torbjorn can be freely purchased with Overwatch Credits, which are earned simply by playing the game. On the other hand, Lich King Reinhardt, Diamond Magni Torbjorn, Sylvanas Widowmaker, and Thrall Zenyatta, all of which were added as a part of WoW’s 20th anniversary celebration last year, can no longer be purchased directly outside special circumstances, but can be found in Overwatch 2 Loot Boxes. With Xal’atath Symmetra now added to the mix, World of Warcraft fans will have even more chances to rep their favorite MMO while playing Overwatch 2.

While unconfirmed, there is seemingly no time limit to earn Xal’atath Symmetra in World of Warcraft: Midnight.

Xal’atath herself is the main antagonist of Midnight. Formerly known as the Harbinger of the Void, this being of darkness has consumed the power of the Void Lord, Dimensius, to become the new All-Devouring – and now, Xal’atath has set her sights on World of Warcraft‘s Sunwell. Though she is a fair bit more villainous than the Vishkar hard-light architect, Symmetra stuns in this stellar skin all the same. Players interested in learning more about this stylish villain can hop into The War Within right now and see how she became such a massive threat to Azeroth.
