Pokemon GO Players Want a Change Made to Solo Raids

By newsgame

Pokemon GO players are calling out a problem with the way that solo Raids work in the game, and want a change to be made. While it’s not a game-breaking concern, for those who participate in Pokemon GO Raids regularly, this issue can become a real nuisance.

While some Pokemon GO players enjoy the casual gameplay of simply capturing Pokemon, others find the Raid Battles to be what keeps them coming back. Over the years, various adjustments have been made to the way that Raid Battles work, sometimes in response to player feedback. Now, fans are hoping that another change could be made.

Pokemon GO Players Point Out Major Frustration with Max Battles

Pokemon GO players point out an issue with Max Battles that can keep them from participating, creating frustration in the game’s community.

Pokemon GO Players Call for Change to Raid Timer

On Reddit, Pokemon GO player FlyEffective4468 called out a particular problem with the Raid timer in the game. They pointed out that solo players in Raids end up waiting for a timer to count down for no real reason. For the unfamiliar, once a player agrees to the Raid and uses a Pokemon GO Raid Pass, it takes them to a new screen with a timer that starts at 120 seconds. Until the timer reaches 90, players can’t ready up, even if they’re completely solo and ready to go. To make matters worse, once they do ready up, they’re still stuck waiting for an additional 10 seconds for the Raid to actually begin.

One recommendation from the playerbase to alleviate this issue include making the ready button available immediately if a player loads into a Raid solo. Others have suggested eliminating the 10-second wait after pressing ready in a solo Raid, as there’s no real reason to wait past that point. However, some have also noted that the wait to start a solo Raid in Pokemon GO used to be longer, and the ability to ready up for solo Raids was only added to Pokemon GO in 2024, which shortened the wait from a full two minutes down to 40 seconds. Of course, that doesn’t mean that there isn’t room for further improvement.

Other players have since popped up in the comments adding their own complaints about the way the Raid timer system works. One common issue is players trying to join local Raids while in a moving vehicle. During those 30 seconds before they can press ready, if they get too far away from the Raid or move too quickly, they get booted out. Several users mentioned having to ask whoever was driving to pull over and wait. This may be an intentional move by the developers, as a way of dissuading anyone from playing Pokemon GO while driving, but even if a player has recently indicated that they’re a passenger or is on foot, it doesn’t change the way Raid Battle timers work. Whether fans will get their wish and see another improvement to the wait time for Raids remains to be seen.
