There are two ways players can unlock the Mortal Rope Dart in Where Winds Meet.

How to Steal Mortal Rope Dart With Skill Theft

Head to the Nine Mortal Ways Sect Martial Hall in Kaifeng City (shown above), and attempt to enter through the main door. The guard standing by the entrance will block your way and tell you that only disciples of the Sect can enter.

Turn around and look for a Mysterious Elder next to the house directly opposite the Martial Hall’s entrance. Talk to the Mysterious Elder to learn that you can enter the Martial Hall if you can disguise yourself as one of the Sect disciples.

The quest marker will be updated, stating that you need to “Draw a portrait for Muddle.” Muddle is a Sect disciple lounging outside the Martial Hall whose identity you can steal to enter the area. Follow the quest marker to find Muddle.

If this is your first time changing disguises, you’ll first need to complete the quest “Disguise: Veil of Love” to unlock the ability. Press G while looking at Muddle, and this quest will automatically become tracked in your Journal.

Follow the quest marker to the Fairgrounds area in Kaifeng to start the Disguise: Veil of Love quest. Wuyan, the Disguise Shop Owner, will tell you talk to Qiao Sanlang about his love interest.

Approach Qiao Sanlang standing just outside the shop. Use Wind Sense (V), aim your camera at Qiao Sanlang, and press the Middle Mouse button to bring up the request window. Select the Jade Satchet and click on Request.

Return to Wuyan after Qiao rejects the request, and she will tell you to disguise yourself as the target of his love. Follow the quest marker to find Fang Wenxui and follow the on-screen prompts to draw her portrait.

Return to Wuyan to disguise yourself as Wang Feixiu. Once you’re changed, go to Qiao Sanlang again and request the Jade Satchet once more. This time, the attempt will have a 100% success rate, and he will immediately give you the item. Talk to Wuyan again to complete the quest.

After you’ve unlocked the disguise ability, return to Muddle and draw a portrait. Return to the Disguise Shop Owner Wuyan to put on the disguise. Follow the quest marker to go back to the Martial Hall and go inside. This time, you won’t be stopped at the door.

Pan Shui will stop you from entering the inner yard, saying that you need a core disciple’s token to enter. Across from Pan Shui is the kitchen where you can find a disciple named Tiancai who you can request a core disciple token from.

Enter the inner yard once you’ve obtained the token, and go to Elder Tian to claim the Rope Dart weapon. Then head to the yard to start the skill theft minigame to unlock the Rope Dart’s special moves and skills.

After the skill theft has been successful, go to the backyard by going through the side door in Elder Tian’s room to find the Mysterious Elder to complete the quest.
