Updated on March 17th, 2026, by Joe Grantham: With all three major DLCs released, including Legacy of the Forge, which adds new armor, and KCD2 now being on Xbox Game Pass, there’s no better time to jump into medieval Bohemia. As such, this guide has been updated to include the best overall armor builds for the early and late stages of the game, respectively. This is especially important as the first stage of the game takes place in the Trosky map before Henry’s adventures take him to Kuttenberg. Most late-game armor can only be bought in the city, and is thus unavailable to those still in Trosky. Later on, it is possible to travel between regions in KCD2.

The Best Early Game Armor Build In KCD2 (Trosky Region)

The following armor can all be found in the Trosky region, making it the best early game armor in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.

As most of these pieces of armor can be bought from the Trosky Blacksmith, it’s worth noting that access to Trosky Castle is gained after attending the wedding. If players want to find the best armor beforehand, they will want to look for the Brunswick armor set via the Lion’s Quest DLC, or loot bandits who may have higher-tier armor.

The Warhorse armor set is also great and can be unlocked right at the start if players access this PROS reward.

The Best Late Game Armor Build In KCD2 (Kuttenberg Region)

The following armor can all be found in the Kuttenberg region, making it the best late-game armor in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.

Most of the best armor is simply bought from Kuttenberg armorers or forged from sketches via the Legacy of the Forge DLC. It is possible to loot top-tier gear from bandits and the like, but they might be of a lower quality and need repairing. It also required luck to find the armor you want.

How To Get New Legacy Of The Forge Armor

While some new armor pieces with the Legacy of the Forge DLC can be bought from normal Kuttenberg armorers, others are more special. Players will need to find Standa the Fly as part of the story, and then acquire enough Prestige and Groschen to get the Armorer’s Shelter upgrade for Henry’s Garden. Standa will then work here.

While completing quests related to the DLC, such as ‘In the Service of the Guild’, players will find armor sketches in bandit chests or receive them as rewards. Take these sketches to your armorer and ask him to make the custom piece. After a few days, players can return and purchase the completed item for a much cheaper price than other armor of a similar quality.

Protecting Henry’s head is of the utmost importance, so getting one of the best helmets in KCD2 by any means should be a priority. Players should note that they will need a coif to wear a helmet. For helmets with visors, which typically rank among the best, players need to remember to lower their visor in combat.
