Fortnite V-Bucks Are Getting More Expensive

By newsgame

Fortnite has announced that significant changes will soon be made to in-game currency prices and V-Bucks Battle Pass rewards, and gamers aren’t too happy to learn about it. Gamers can enjoy Fortnite without spending a cent on it, as it is a free-to-play game without any pay-to-win elements. However, many players enjoy the perks that V-Bucks, its in-game currency, can give them. With V-Bucks, players can purchase cosmetics and the game’s various passes, which feature fun challenges and unique rewards.

Over the years, many changes have been made to V-Bucks. The cost of V-Bucks has been adjusted several times across many regions of the world. In 2023, Save the World Founders lost access to the Daily Login Rewards system, which would make it possible for them to earn free V-Bucks every now and then simply by logging into the game. Even though this angered some fans, Epic Games was able to keep the situation at bay by countering it with additional Daily Quest Rewards. Besides this, Epic also increased the price of the Battle Pass by 50 V-Bucks.

Xbox Game Pass Changes & Fortnite Crew, Explained

Xbox Game Pass has gone through a major overhaul, adding Fortnite Crew and EA Play to Game Pass Ultimate. Here is a rundown of all the changes.

Fortnite Significantly Decreases V-Bucks in Packs and Cuts Down on Battle Pass V-Bucks Rewards

Due to economic changes, V-Bucks prices have gone up and down a few times over the years, even though the amount of V-Bucks offered remained the same. This is now about to change, as Epic Games has announced that V-Buck Packs will grant players fewer V-Bucks than before. Rather than increasing the price of Fortnite‘s in-game currency, Epic Games has significantly lowered the amount of V-Bucks fans will get in exchange for the same amount of money. As of March 19, the Battle Pass will cost 800 V-Bucks and grant 800 V-Bucks. Before, it cost 1,000 V-Bucks, but players were able to earn back up to 1,500 V-Bucks.

The Battle Pass costs 200 V-Bucks less than it did before, which might give off the idea that it’s cheaper, but since the $8.99 Pack now grants 800 V-Bucks rather than 1,000 V-Bucks, it actually costs the same. The main difference is that players will only be able to earn 800 V-Bucks from it instead of 1,500 V-Bucks. For the first time ever, players are only able to earn back the V-Bucks that they spent on the pass and are not able to make extra currency from it.

Other passes can also be obtained for fewer V-Bucks due to their price increase. The OG Pass, which initially cost 1,000 V-Bucks, will be sold for 800 V-Bucks. The Music Pass and the LEGO Pass, which cost 1,400 V-Bucks, can be obtained for 1,200 V-Bucks. Many players obtain the Fortnite Crew so they can gain access to all passes without having to pay an additional price. However, before renewing their subscription, Fortnite Crew Pack members should know that they will suffer the consequences of these changes as well; the membership will now only grant 800 V-Bucks monthly rather than 1,000.

Many players were particularly perplexed over the “exact amount” pack, which allowed players to purchase an exact amount of V-Bucks for about a dollar per 100 V-Bucks. With the changes being made to V-Bucks, the price has nearly doubled. The “exact amount” pack was implemented in Fortnite in September 2025, and it was a welcome change that made it possible for players to acquire items at a more affordable price, as they didn’t have to purchase V-Bucks packs, but now, it might just be a bit too expensive to justify using the feature.
