Cookie Run Kingdom Responds to Question About Whether the Cookies in the Game Equate to Human Races
The developers of Cookie Run: Kingdom responded to a fan’s question about whether the Cookies in the game equate to human races. In January this year, this role-playing and city-building battle simulator created by Devsisters celebrated its 5th anniversary since its global release, reaching over 80 million players worldwide over the years. One of the reasons why this sixth installment in the Cookie Run series enjoys continued interest among the gaming community is its elaborate narrative, told through successive chapters featuring characters known as Cookies. As of February this year, Cookie Run: Kingdom features over 175 playable Cookies that can be obtained through the game’s gacha system, as well as non-playable Guest Cookies that players can place in their kingdom.
Cookies are at the heart of this free-to-play strategy game, as the player’s goal is to collect them and then use them in various game modes. With each subsequent update, new characters are introduced to the game, including both heroes and villains, which players can add to their team in PvE and PvP challenges. Cookie Run: Kingdom offers gamers a wide selection of Cookies with high-tier rarities, ranging from Common to Legendary and Beast. In addition to leveling up, upgrading, and promoting characters used in combat, fans also have the option of equipping them with various toppings that boost different stats, such as Attack, Defense, Crit Rate, and Damage Resistance, and even apply bonus effects.

Cookie Run: Kingdom Developers Answered a Question About Cookies
One of the fans of Cookie Run: Kingdom had some thoughts about the Cookies featured in the game and decided to ask the developers a question about them directly. On the subreddit dedicated to this title, a user named ProfessorGreat7440 shared screenshots showing the response to his query issued by Devsisters via support email. In the message, the developers addressed whether Cookies from the game’s universe have official human skin colors and races from the real world. The creators stated that the characters in the game belong to fantasy species, and their colors and appearance are designed to represent the elements, themes, and concepts associated with a given character, so the concepts of human races and real-world skin color classifications do not apply to them.

The post sparked a lively discussion among other players, whose opinions on the subject were divided. Some of them agreed with the response, stating that it was obvious to them from the outset that Cookies had no official counterparts in real-world human skins and races, and that the developers’ response was official proof of this. However, other fans felt that the message was designed with PR in mind, as Cookies’ designs clearly refer to real cultural groups, as evidenced by, among others, the Golden Cheese Cookie representing Ancient Egypt and the Dark Cacao Cookie reminiscent of Korean culture. Some of them also added that in the Cookie Run: Kingdom universe, greater importance is attached to the flavors of Cookies, which implies the existence of class differences and forms of prejudice, which the developers could not officially confirm due to advertising the game to children.
The fact that gamers pay close attention to the attributes and characteristics assigned to Cookies available in Cookie Run: Kingdom shows that they treat them as more than just another character to play battles with. Some players in the discussion under the Reddit post admitted that they create their own headcanons related to the characters they own, selecting them for their team based on criteria they have invented themselves and even giving them different personalities. And considering that fans of this game have a wide selection of new and returning Cookies to choose from, each with different flavors, themes, abilities, colors, attributes, shapes, and origins, it’s not difficult for them to become attached to those baked characters. Since the game’s storyline is constantly being developed and new content is added on an ongoing basis, players can look forward to the arrival of new Cookies, which will add variety not only to combat but also to the entire Cookie Run gaming universe.
