Rototiller is one of the many abilities you can learn in Pokemon Pokopia, and it’s a good idea to unlock it early, so you can start tilling soil and growing crops like Beans, Tomatoes, and Wheat as soon as possible. To unlock Rototiller, you first have to find Drilbur in the Withered Wasteland and help it water some dry soil. We’ll help you do this step-by-step in our guide below on how to unlock Rototiller and till soil in Pokemon Pokopia.
What To Do With the Gravestone in Pokopia (Gravestone Habitats)
Find Cubone and Litwick in Pokopia by making habitats with a gravestone.
How to Unlock Rototiller in Pokopia
You unlock the Rototiller ability in Pokopia after helping Drilbur water the dry soil in the eastern area of Withered Wasteland, which is located just east of the Pokemon Center. All you have to do to water the soil is use the Rock Smash ability you learned from Hitmonchan in Pokopia on the block of soil leaking water, located up and to the right of the soil patch near Drilbur. Then use Rock Smash again to destroy the blocks stopping the stream of water from reaching the soil patch.
Speak to Drilbur again after you water the dry soil to get Rototiller and unlock the ability to plant crops. Drilbur even gives you five Bean seeds to start your farming journey.
You also need to use Rock Smash to get easy access into the eastern area of Withered Wasteland, as it’s surrounded by breakable blocks. Drilbur is located right behind these blocks.
How to Till Soil in Pokopia
Once you get the Rototiller ability from Drilbur, you can use it to till soil and plant crops in Pokopia. Just use the left and right arrows on your controller to tab between abilities until you see Rototiller, then use it on a patch of soil by pressing ZR. You’ll know you’ve successfully tilled the soil if it turns a dark brown — almost black — color. With the soil now primed, you can plant seeds and water them to grow veggies in Pokopia.
Bring a Pokemon with the Grow ability (like Bulbasaur) when planting crops, as they make crops sprout up faster. Alternatively, you can speed up crop growing by passing time in Pokopia after changing the clock on your Switch.
