Black Ops 7 Has a Zombies Camo Most Players Will Never Get

By newsgame

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 may be getting torn apart online due to its campaign and a general desire to see Battlefield 6 win the competition this time around, but fans of its core multiplayer and Zombies mode still have plenty to appreciate. On the multiplayer front, Black Ops 7 launched with a wide variety of quality maps while toning down SBMM and bringing back persistent lobbies, addressing several criticisms of recent entries. On the Zombies front, Ashes of the Damned is packed with Easter eggs and brings back small-scale survival maps for those seeking something a bit simpler, while also making a range of quality-of-life improvements. Cursed mode is a highlight, too, and it’s through this alternate form of play that Black Ops 7’s already-huge camo grind becomes even deeper.

While Black Ops 7’s Weapon Prestige feature introduces some long camo unlock processes, such as Weaponized 115 demanding that players level up the Echo 12 Shotgun hundreds of times, there’s a trio of Zombies-exclusive Pack-a-Punch camos that take a different approach. As opposed to dozens of hours leveling up a specific weapon, these unlocks will require players to complete the main quest of Ashes of the Damned multiple times, with some brutal modifiers tacked on top. At the time of writing, per CoD Zombies expert MrRoflWaffles, less than 1% of players have access to the first of these special camos. And since some Relics in BO7 Zombies remain undiscovered, the final variant is available to literally nobody as of now.

Black Ops 7’s Ash Pack-a-Punch Camos Will Push Zombies Players to Their Limits

As of now, the first of these three Pack-a-Punch camos — called Caustic Ash — is the one that players are certain of how to obtain. Unlocking this special Zombies camo requires that players do the following:

  • Unlock access to Cursed Mode’s Relics by completing the Ashes of the Damned main quest.
  • Unlock and equip three different Relics to access Cursed Tier 1. This will give players access to Golden Armor to make things easier, but with the Relics’ debuffs — such as a four-perk limit — the difficulty balances out.
  • Complete the main quest again with three Relics equipped.

Currently, only six of the nine Cursed Relics have been found, those being the Dragon Wings, Lawyer’s Pen, Teddy Bear, Vril Sphere, Focusing Stone, and Blood Vials.

Considering how low the completion rate is for main quests as is, and that many players complete a quest once and then never touch it again, it’s no surprise that few players have earned this camo and even fewer will get its other variants. While it’s purely speculation at the moment, it can be assumed that the red and green variants — Molten Ash and Putrid Ashe respectively — are unlocked at Tier 2 and Tier 3 of Cursed. This means that players will need to beat the main quest with six Relics equipped, and then again with all nine Relics equipped, which will undoubtedly be extremely difficult. On the bright side, Treyarch has announced that the final boss of the Ashes of the Damned main quest will be nerfed in the near future, which should make things a bit more manageable.

Still, there’s no denying that these will be the toughest camos to obtain in the game, as unlocking Relics also requires some extra effort from players. Each Relic unlock requires players to complete a unique side Easter egg on Ashes of the Damned that appears after Round 20, and then they will have to get through a difficult trial, such as random drops being deadly or several rounds of fighting only Shock Mimics. Considering how players need to go out of their way to obtain Relics in the first place, and then how they must replay an Easter egg with modifiers like rounds starting 75% faster and ammo crates being removed from the map, it’s safe to assume these three alternate Pack-a-Punch camos will be earned by a tiny fraction of the CoD player base.

Black Ops 7’s Alternate Pack-a-Punch Camos Are Likely Just the Beginning

It’s worth noting that the three gorgeous Ash weapon camos aren’t never-before-seen designs. Instead, they come directly from the classic BO3 Zombies map Gorod Krovi. It can be assumed, then, that in addition to a new PaP design with every map, players will be able to unlock three versions of a returning camo design with every new map. While unconfirmed, this would make sense, and would be a terrific way to reward players for completing future main quests in Cursed mode. There are plenty of memorable Pack-a-Punch designs that could return, as it’s easy to picture three variants of Mob of the Dead’s fiery camo or Origins’ blue 115 camo going down well with passionate fans and being designs they really feel like grinding for. Ultimately, the difficulty of these alternate PaP camos is what makes them so special, and it’s exciting to have something new to grind for beyond mastery Camos and Calling Cards.
