How to Get & Use Dowsing Machine in Pokopia
The Dowsing Machine is an item you’ll be able to get early on in Pokemon Pokopia and can help you find more items if you use it in the right way (and know how to use it in general). Before that, though, you’ll need to find it, and that requires you to complete Hitmonchan’s ‘Check What’s Up There’ request. In this guide, I’ll explain how to complete the request, where to find the Dowsing Machine as part of it, and how to use the Dowsing Machine in Pokopia once you’ve got it.
How to Find Scyther and Cut Worn Lumber in Pokopia
You’ll need to be friends with Scyther in Pokopia before you cut down pieces of Worn Lumber.
How to Get the Dowsing Machine in Pokopia
After you’ve unlocked Hitmonchan by creating its preferred biome, you’ll see them standing at the bottom of some steps leading up an upper level of the area.
Speak to them, and they’ll suggest that you head up the broken path to see what’s up at the top. Unfortunately, the path requires you to place some blocks to make your way up. These dirt blocks can be gathered with the help of your newfound Rock Smash ability.
Once you’ve placed the blocks and made your way to the top, you’ll find more dirt blocks surrounding a glowing Poke Ball. Use Rock Smash again to break the blocks so you can reach the Poke Ball. Press A when standing in front of the Poke Ball to get the Dowsing Machine.
What Does the Dowsing Machine Do and How to Use It in Pokopia
The Dowsing Machine is an item that can be used to find and interact with items buried underground, such as Fossils and Mysterious Slates.
To use it, make sure you have it equipped and ensure that you have a Pokemon with the ‘Search’ speciality following you, such as Pidgey or Venonat. Now all you need to do is press and hold A, and you’ll hear a beeping noise. The closer you get to a buried item, the faster the noise will get.
Buried items are typically indicated with a golden glow from a block. You might have seen some of these as you’ve been exploring the world that look like cracks in the ground. Once you’ve used the Dowsing Machine and your ‘Search’ speciality Pokemon to find a buried item, use Rock Smash to break the block and get the buried item inside.
he Dowsing Machine isn’t a one-use item, so once you’ve got it from Hitmonchan’s request, you’ll have it for the remainder of your time in the game.
