How to Get Past Pokemon Tower Ghost in Pokemon FireRed & LeafGreen
In Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen, the top floor entrance of the Pokemon Tower in Lavender Town is blocked by a level 30 “Ghost” Pokemon that appears to be intangible and untargetable, stating “be gone intruders” to anyone who dares approach it.
A special item called the Silph Scope is required to reveal the fog obscuring the identity of this Ghost, and to get past it to reach Pokemon Tower 7F. This guide covers the exact location of the Silph Scope, how to get it, and how to use it to access the final floor of the Pokemon Tower.

How to Get the Silph Scope in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen
The Silph Scope can be obtained by defeating Giovanni in the Rocket Hideout underneath the Celadon Game Corner in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen.
In the Game Corner, look for a Team Rocket Grunt standing next to a poster near the receptionist area. Defeat him in battle and interact with the poster he was facing to reveal the entrance to the Rocket Hideout to the right.
Go down the stairs to enter the Rocket Hideout B1F. Then, continue east down the next set of stairs to reach Rocket Hideout B2F.
Ignore the spinner tile puzzle to the left, and go down the next set of stairs near the top of the room to reach B3F.
Go through the spinner tiles as shown in the screenshot above to reach B4F.
Defeat the Rocket Grunt in the top left corner of the room, and he will drop the Lift Key item next to him.
Pick up the Lift Key, return to B2F, and follow the steps in the video above to solve the Spinning Tile Puzzle and reach the elevator.
Use the elevator to go down to B4F again, and you’ll be able to come face-to-face with Giovanni. Defeat Giovanni in battle, and you will receive the Silph Scope.
How to Get Past Pokemon Tower Ghost in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen
With the Silph Scope in hand, return to the Pokemon Tower in Lavender Town. Go up the floors until you reach Pokemon Tower 6F. Approach the stairs leading up to the next floor, and you’ll enter a battle against the level 30 Ghost.
The Silph Scope will automatically activate to reveal that the Ghost was actually a Marowak, a Ground-type Pokemon shrouded in fog. Now that it is revealed, you will be able to defeat the Marowak to put its soul to rest.
You cannot catch the level 30 “Ghost” Marowak in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen. No matter how many Poke Balls you throw, it will avoid all of them. Defeat it to progress the game.
After the Marowak is dealt with, go up the stairs to the final floor of the Pokemon Tower. Defeat the two Rocket Grunts standing guard near Mr Fuji. Then, talk to him to receive your final reward: the Poke Flute. The Poke Flute is used to wake up the sleeping Snorlax blocking the path on Route 12 and other locations in FRLG.
After receiving the Poke Flute, you’ll be able to enter the Silph Co. building in Saffron City.
