Here are all the differences that you need to know about Pokemon FireRed and Pokemon LeafGreen.
Where to Find All Fishing Rods in Pokemon FireRed & LeafGreen
There are three Fishing Rods in Pokemon FireRed & LeafGreen, each of them has a certain level (tiers), and allows trainers to fish out water-type Pokemon (or those that live in the water) to battle and catch them.
Starting with the least effective one to the best, these rods are: Old Rod, Good Rod, and Super Rod. The Old Rod (Tier 1) allows players to fish out Pokemon ranging from Level 1 to 10, the Good Rod (Tier 2) allows players to fish Pokemon from levels 10 to 25, and the Super Rod (Tier 3) allows players to get the most powerful Pokemon starting at level 25 to 50+.
Certain rare species like Dratini can only be fished by using a Tier 2 or 3 Rod, since the Old Rod won’t be enough to catch the attention of this elusive Dragon-type.
The first rod can be found in Vermillion City (the Third Gym town), and it’s located in the house left of the Pokemon Center. Enter there and talk to the fisherman inside to receive an Old Rod for free.
Later in the adventure, players can get the Good Rod by talking to the Fisherman in Fuschia City (fifth Gym town). This fellow lives in a red cottage house that can be found by exiting the Pokemon Center and going to the right side (east). The house at the end of the line with a small pond of water in the garden is the one players are looking for.
Finally, the Super Rod is found after obtaining the Poke Flute and waking up Snorlax. Starting from Lavender Town, go south down Route 12 until finding a small cottage with a blue rooftop located on a small island between two bridges. Inside the house lives the last and final NPC to find: The Master Fisherman. This fellow will give players the Super Rod.

So now that players have the ultimate Fishing Rod, it’s time to go and catch powerful Pokemon like Dewgong, Kingler, Gyarados, Dratini, and Dragonair. Remember that in the case of Dratini and Dragonair, players can only fish them out in the deepest part of the Safari Zone. The trick is to use Repellent to reach this area without encountering other Pokemon, then start fishing there until catching Dratini.
