How to Get & Evolve Nidoran in Pokemon FireRed & LeafGreen

By newsgame

Nidoranand Nidoranevolve into Nidoking and Nidoqueen, respectively, in Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen, both worthy additions to any team. However, reaching the final evolution stage for these Pokemon requires the aid of an evolution stone, one that is not sold at any shop.

Players looking to get their hands on a Nidoking or Nidoqueen will need to know where to find and catch Nidoran in their game, as well as the location of the evolution stone to reach the final stage.

East of Pewter City is Route 3, containing two patches of grass where Nidoranand Nidorancan appear.

  • In Pokemon FireRed, Nidoranhas a 14% chance to appear in Route 3, whereas Nidoranonly has a 1% chance.
  • In Pokemon LeafGreen, Nidoranhas a 14% chance to appear in the grass in Route 3, while Nidoranonly appears 1% of the time.

Underground Path (Trade)

The pink-haired girl standing next to the stairs to the Underground Path on Route 5, south of Cerulean City, offers to trade a Nidoranfor a Nidoran(FireRed), or a Nidoranfor a Nidoran(LeafGreen). This is useful if you’re having trouble triggering the 1% encounter rate on Route 3 to get the rarer variant in your version of the game.
