If you’re wondering how to save in High on Life 2, the answer is a curious one, and the same as the first game. As you go about your mission to try and stop an evil pharmaceutical company from turning humankind into pills, you’ll want to know how to save your progress to prevent you from having to repeat everything you’ve already done in this comedic first-person shooter.

That’s not to say the game isn’t fun, or funny, enough to replay, but you don’t want to repeat a section of gameplay you’ve just completed. So, for everything you need to know about retaining your progress in this laugh-a-minute first-person shooter, here’s the answer to whether you can save in High on Life 2.

Just like the first game, there is no way to manually save your game in High on Life 2. It was a strange decision the first time around, let alone to repeat it for the sequel. Saving at the end, or even during, a game session will be muscle memory for most gamers, but there’s no option to do it as you close down this game.

Meanwhile, High on Life 2 players will be pleased to know there is a very regular and generous auto-save system, just like the original game had. Players will notice this especially in some of the more finicky platforming sections, where a fall to your death precedes a revival very close to where you died. You’ll know when your game has auto-saved, as an icon will appear in the bottom-right corner of the screen.

Speaking of saves, you get three save slots in total. However, since you can’t save manually, you’ll simply make progress in one of the three save slots you choose, and it will update as you play. As you’d expect, when you boot up the game, you have the choice of starting a new game, loading one of your three save slots, or continuing the previous save you were in during your latest session.
