Borderlands 4 Reveals New 2026 Roadmap
In the first substantial update in a few weeks, Borderlands 4 has revealed a new 2026 roadmap. While the roadmap hasn’t changed much from the roadmap Gearbox originally had planned for the game, it does add a new takedown and an extra Bounty Pack to the Q1 2026 schedule for Borderlands 4.
That’s not all, either, as the new roadmap arrives alongside the release of Borderlands 4‘s first Bounty Pack, How Rush Saved Mercenary Day, which is now free to all players. Initially, Bounty Packs were meant to be paid DLC, so it should come as a surprise that the first pack will cost players nothing.
Borderlands 4’s Updated 2026 Roadmap Arrives Alongside a Hefty Update
Borderlands 4 has been in a bit of an update dry spell over the last few weeks, with tease after tease from its official X account and that of creative director Graeme Timmins that more content was on the way. Now, an updated 2026 roadmap has been revealed for the game, in response to fans “asking for tougher endgame content,” according to a post on Borderlands 4‘s official X page.
New additions to Borderlands 4‘s endgame roadmap:
- The new roadmap now mentions “Bounty Packs 3–5” in the “Beyond Q1 2026” column, as opposed to “Bounty Packs 3+4”
- “New Takedown” has also been added in the “Beyond Q1 2026” column
With the updated roadmap and Borderlands 4‘s first Bounty Pack, Gearbox has also released a significant patch bringing a host of improvements to the game. The most notable fixes in the update include improvements to stability and performance, conversion of the Phosphene weapon challenge from character-based to profile-wide progression, and damage increases to various gear and Firmware in Borderlands 4.
According to yet another post from Borderlands 4‘s official X account, Gearbox stated that it is “excited to share more info when we can,” but encourages players to get their endgame builds ready for Bloomreaper, the game’s first Invincible Boss arriving in December. Along with Bloomreaper’s arrival, Borderlands 4‘s Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode will also receive an additional level, and players will get the opportunity to earn brand-new Legendary gear in the game.
With that announcement, it appears Gearbox has more in store for players in the near future, perhaps even apart from what is listed on the new Borderlands 4 endgame roadmap. Fans have been requesting info on an update for a few weeks now, so the latest Borderlands 4 news about its free How Rush Saved Mercenary Day Bounty Pack, its extensive patch notes, its updated roadmap, and the tease of more content on the way might help ease their concerns for the time being.
