Fighting Souls Confirms 4 X-Men for the Roster
As many predicted, Arc System Works was on hand during Sony’s PlayStation State of Play to reveal new details about the upcoming fighting game, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, including the game’s launch date. Fans have been starving for new information about the Marvel fighter after earlier reveals of the initial 8 characters and some closed beta tests throughout 2025. With Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls scheduled for a 2026 launch, it was only a matter of time before news finally surfaced.
In fact, new details actually arrived sooner than Sony and Arc System Works probably intended. Following a new PlayStation State of Play announcement for February 12, the Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls Steam page also received a subtle update giving fans new details that had yet to be released. It confirmed a launch roster of 20 heroes, 64 player online lobbies, a PSN account requirement for PC users, as well as a single-player mode that would give players a deep dive into the various teams in the game. With the newly released trailer, the “teams” dynamic is now starting to come into shape.

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls Release Date
During Sony’s PlayStation State of Play for February 12, 2026, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls revealed a 2-minute trailer with a ton of new information. Kicking things off on Chandilar, the Shi’ar Homeworld, players saw what appeared to be the bodies of Deathbird and Gladiator before the planet was essentially vaporized. Transitioning to Earth, a purple storm cloud appeared and enveloped the skies, giving fans their first glimpse at the game’s overarching story.
From there, the trailer revealed the first complete team of characters, all part of the Unbreakable X-Men. While players have seen Storm in previous Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls trailers, she was joined by Wolverine, Magik, and Danger. While the first three have appeared in plenty of other games and media, Danger is the physical manifestation of the X-Mansion’s Danger Room, where Xavier’s mutants train. The character first appeared in 2005’s Astonishing X-Men (Vol. 3), the room itself was seemingly given life thanks in large part to Shi’ar technology. The trailer highlighted many of the character’s impressive super and ultimate attacks, including a huge, stylish teamup that incorporated all four characters.
An accompanying blog post revealed a bit more on the previously announced Episode Mode, a collaboration between ArcSys and Marvel Games to blend American Comics and Japanese Manga to tell the game’s story. Motion comics illustrated by celebrated artists will detail the narrative, which is teased to have been written by “a renowned writer from the original Marvel comics.”

In addition, the reveal also confirmed pre-order bonuses and special editions that players can preorder, starting on February 19 with the game officially launching on August 6. Anyone who preorders the game will unlock lobby cosmetics for their avatar, including an Infinity Gauntlet, a Baby Groot lobby pet, and a ridable Cosmic Surfboard.
For those who want a bit more from the game, there’s a Digital Deluxe Edition and Ultimate Edition as well. The Digital Deluxe is priced at $84.99 and will give the player the full Year One Pass, which will add another 4 characters and 1 stage post-launch. In addition, it’ll let players dress their avatar up as Howard the Duck and unlock a Cosmo lobby pet.
Finally, the Ultimate Edition will give everything previously announced and more cosmetic gear. For $99.99, players will also receive 5 bonus character costumes like Spider-Man’s Advanced Suit 2.0 from Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 game. Players also unlock Storm’s Punk Rock outfit, Iron Man and Captain America’s Classic Costumes, and Doctor Doom’s Supreme Ruler outfit. Finally, all 20 launch characters will have access to an animated chromatic color option.
