Bladepoint Crossover, But There’s a Catch

By newsgame

Overwatch has officially revealed a collaboration event with Naraka: Bladepoint, but unfortunately, it is only available in China. Featuring stunning cosmetics inspired by the characters of the action battle royale, this crossover is the latest in a string of China-exclusive Overwatch events.

The release of Overwatch Reign of Talon Season 1: Conquest on February 10 marked a massive turning point for the hero shooter. Having dropped the 2 from Overwatch 2, this soft relaunch included its first story-focused season, five new heroes, subroles, a UI refresh, and much more. Within a day of launch, Overwatch shattered consecutive player records on platforms including Steam and Twitch.

Overwatch Director Confirms Hero Redesign Following Community Backlash

Following a wave of community backlash, Overwatch director Aaron Keller confirms that the team is working on a redesign for a Season 1 character.

China-Only Overwatch x Naraka: Bladepoint Crossover Event

Now, Overwatch has revealed a stunning new collab to go along with the relaunch. Overwatch x Naraka: Bladepoint is a crossover event that transforms D.Va, Freja, Widowmaker, Reaper, and Wuyang into heroes from the battle royale, featuring skins, Sprays, Name Cards, Player Icons, and more. Unfortunately, there is a big asterisk attached to this new event: it is only available in China, and there are no plans to bring it abroad, despite Naraka: Bladepoint being available globally. This means the following Overwatch skins can only be obtained in China:

  • Feria Shen D.Va
  • Wei Qing Freja
  • Yueshan Reaper
  • Viper Ning Widowmaker
  • Wuchen Wuyang

Naraka: Bladepoint is a Wuxia martial arts battle royale game developed by 24 Entertainment and published by NetEase, the same company responsible for distributing Overwatch in China. Gamers select from 22 different characters, each with a unique skill and three different Ultimates to choose from, and fight for supremacy in 60-player matches. The game is supremely popular in China, but still has a dedicated community worldwide.

What makes the Overwatch x Naraka: Bladepoint collaboration stand out is its incredible production quality. The skins themselves are exceptional, with fidelity comparable to the best Legendary and Mythic skins in Overwatch. However, beyond that, this Overwatch crossover included an awesome four-minute cinematic trailer showing characters from both games interacting, originally posted on Chinese social media and then shared on Twitter by Overwatch Cavalry.

This isn’t the first Overwatch event specific to China. The Black Claw Archives Overwatch event from late 2025 to early 2026 is one recent example; it granted Chinese players the opportunity to obtain rare cosmetics like Demon Hunter Sombra, Thunder Doomfist, and Lilith Moira. In February 2025, Overwatch also released Loverwatch, a robust China-only sequel to the original dating sim minigame released for free on Valentine’s Day two years earlier. Beyond Overwatch, Blizzard has worked with NetEase to release region-locked events in other games as well, such as the new Titan Reforged World of Warcraft Classic servers and the gorgeous Lunar New Year cosmetics for retail WoW.

Unfortunately, Overwatch senior vice president Walter Kong’s words during the Overwatch x Naraka: Bladepoint collaboration’s initial reveal suggested the event would remain exclusive to China indefinitely, and that there are no plans to bring it globally. While this could change in the future, fans shouldn’t get their hopes up. That said, Naraka: Bladepoint‘s sister collaboration featuring Overwatch skins in the battle royale is allegedly planned to run outside China in the future, though only time will tell if this ends up being the case.

Overwatch’s Other Active Collaboration Event

Luckily, there is another collaboration event live in Overwatch right now that is available globally. Overwatch Reign of Talon Season 1: Conquest saw the beginning of the Sanrio collab, giving several heroes adorable outfits inspired by Hello Kitty & Friends:

  • Hello Kitty Juno
  • My Melody D.Va
  • Kuromi Widowmaker
  • Pompompurin Mercy
  • Cinnamoroll Kiriko
  • Keroppi Lucio

Like previous Overwatch collaborations, players can purchase each of these skins individually for 1,900 Overwatch Coins, in their bundles, complete with Highlight Intros, Emotes, and more for 2,800 Overwatch Coins, or in the Hello Kitty and Friends Mega Bundle for 2,900 Overwatch Coins. Additionally, fans can earn matching Name Cards, Sanrio Sprays, the True Friend Player Title, and some Battle Pass XP by completing in-game challenges before the event wraps up on February 24.
