Fire Shuriken can be found in a hidden area near Hamamatsu Castle Town in Nioh 3, behind a crate of breakable boxes. After completing the tutorial, you’ll enter the first major map of the game, the Warring States Era.

If you follow the main quest marker, you’ll encounter Tokugawa Ieyasu’s war camp, where he and Ii Naotora will ask you to destroy the Yokai in the Crucible to free the town from corruption. You’ll be led to the entrance of the Crucible, with a Shrine nearby.

  1. From the Hamamatsu Castle Town (East) Shrine, turn back and cross the broken bridge.

How Does Fire Shuriken Work in Nioh 3

Fire Shuriken Explained in Nioh 3

In Nioh 3, the Fire Shuriken Ninjutsu throws a fire-imbued shuriken at the target that explodes after a delay. The in-game description for it states:

  • Throw a shuriken to deal damage to an enemy. These shuriken burst into flames shortly after piercing their target, dealing additional damage. (Stock: 5, Accumulation Rate: 5.0)

The basic damage of a Fire Shuriken is exactly the same as that of a regular Shuriken. The fire explosion occurs roughly 2 seconds after hitting the target, dealing fire damage and causing Scorched status buildup on the enemy. The Scorched status is essentially a Burn that deals damage over time to enemies, while also making them susceptible to explosions if they come into contact with something flammable.

A single Fire Shuriken is not enough to fully inflict the Scorched status; you need the aid of a second Fire Shuriken, a Fire-imbued weapon, or another Fire-based Ninjutsu like Uncanny Flame to complete the buildup. Only after a character has been fully “Scorched” will they receive damage-over-time. Only the flame explosion damage from the Fire Shuriken contributes to Scorched; the initial Shuriken hit deals pure physical damage.

Since Fire Shuriken is stronger than the regular Shuriken, it takes twice as much effort to accumulate a charge. Additionally, the maximum amount you can store is also half that of the original Shuriken (five instead of ten).
