How to Get Blue Skin in Heartopia
As Heartopia welcomes the winter season, the island changes in more ways than just snowfall and cozy decorations. Along with new events, creatures, and seasonal items, players are introduced to a mysterious winter-only condition known as Frostspore Infection. Even though it sounds like something to avoid, this icy illness is actually the key to unlocking one of the unique cosmetic rewards in Heartopia: the Frostbitten blue skin for your avatar.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to locating and photographing all 16 eggs in Heartopia’s Onsen Egg Promise quest.
What is Frostspore Infection in Heartopia?
Frostspore Infection is first introduced during the early event quests leading into the Frostwave Event Season. Annie and other NPCs around town will mention it as part of the winter storyline, explaining that the cold weather has caused unusual changes across the island. This infection only exists during winter in Heartopia and adds special effects to the environment, wildlife, and even your character’s appearance.
When your character catches Frostspore Infection, you’ll notice a snowflake-shaped buff icon appear on your screen. This buff indicates that the infection is active.
How to Unlock the Frostbitten Skin in Heartopia
To unlock the Frostbitten Skin, you have to trigger the Frostspore Infection buff for six consecutive days, with the buff remaining active for at least one minute each day. The game tracks consistency, so you’ll have to stand outside in the cold for a while every day until you unlock the skin.
The Frostbitten Skin turns your character’s skin blue, giving them a frosty, winter-themed appearance.
Remember, simply wandering through snowy areas randomly may not always trigger the infection. Instead, there are specific locations in Heartopia where Frostspore Infection is much more likely to activate. The best places are mentioned below:
- One reliable spot is near the Fishing Village, particularly around the eastern entrance just across the Giantwood River bridge.
- Another effective area is around Onsen Mountain, especially beneath the bridge leading toward the ruins, where the cold seems to intensify.
- The Center of Town can also trigger the buff, specifically on the road that runs between Residential Street and Art Street.
When you reach one of these areas, stay there until the snowflake buff appears. You only need to trigger the buff once per day, so there’s no benefit to staying longer after a minute has passed. After successfully triggering Frostspore Infection for six days in a row, the Frostbitten Skin will unlock automatically.
